Problems and Concerns
• Top level integration has been delayed by 2 months until April 1st– Radiation shield design taking longer than expected– Mechanism rework required to pass flexure tests and fit checks– Focus mechanism design/fab/assembly took longer than expected
• Radiation shield fabrication will extend into March• Documentation (Manuals)
– Maintenance manual outline started; procedures documented as carried out– delayed by focus on mechanism testing and radiation shields
• OIWFS prism installation– OIWFS complete except for installing detector– prism needs to be installed and tested before benches integration into the

Quarterly ReviewJanuary 24, 2002
Subsystem Testing
• Basic philosophy remains unchanged– All subsystems tested prior to integration– Quantify performance for mechanism motion tables,
flexure compensator
32
Quarterly ReviewJanuary 24, 2002
Subsystem Testing (2)
• All mechanisms have undergone functional testing– Some testing on focus remains (1/17)– Need to complete clean/cold tests– Turrets flexure performance determined, provides
initial input for flexure compensator settings
• Optical tests on camera, collimator remain– No alignment required– Fore-optics aligned and tested
33
Quarterly ReviewJanuary 24, 2002
Subsystem Testing (3)
• OIWFS integration nominally complete– System aligned and tested with warm MUX– Need to install science detector– Still limited time to install and check S-H prism
34
Quarterly ReviewJanuary 24, 2002
OIWFS Issues
• All OIWFS software accounted for• MUX readout working• Some setup information incomplete• Electronics documentation incomplete• Operating software is working• Mechanism status (9/20/01)
– Zero is displaced on gimbal Y-axis– Otherwise, hardware appears OK
35
Quarterly ReviewJanuary 24, 2002
