25 Different Types of Painting Technique and Styles:
1. Oil Painting – was first used by Indian and Chinese artists during the 5th century
but it became popular only in the 15th century. Difficult for beginners, suitable for
almost all kinds of style.

one uses water-based solutions to mix the colors thus the mixing of colors is very
crucial.
3. Pastel Painting – pastel sticks are usually used; this can be done on canvass so\
you can do beautiful layering of colors with paste.
4. Acrylic – faster drying painting. This uses water soluble paints, once the painting
is complete, it turns to water resistant. Commonly used for sculptures and molding
facial features. It is easier to clean since you only need water to wash them off.
5. Digital painting – is the art of creating an artwork on a computer where you do not
have to worry on paint spills.

style of writing and drawing/scribbling which has no absolute meaning.

12. Hot Wax Painting - known as ENCAUSTIC Painting. This painting technique uses
beeswax which is melted and added to color pigments. Cold and hot wax are used.

lime plaster. The color pigments are mixed with water solutions directly applied on
the lime plasters. Fresco Secco paintings have been around since the renaissance
period, you can view this in the Vatican walls and ceilings.
14. Gouache – opaque watercolor medium. Used with other binding agents to create
an Art. A white chalk or white color is added to the mixture to attain the opacity in
