Preface

The first round of the Company recruitment process includes the aptitude test which

assesses the intelligence of the students. The aptitude test generally has 3 sections:

Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning and Verbal Ability.

This book has been prepared as a guide for the students to prepare for the aptitude

test who are likely to appear in various companies’ placement exams. The book is

divided into three volumes based on the 3 sections.

Volume 1 - Quantitative Aptitude

Volume 2 - Logical Reasoning

Volume 3 - Verbal Ability

Volume 1 of the book contains a large number of Quantitative Aptitude questions

with answers. Each company has its own format for the aptitude paper; some papers

have negative marking for one wrong answer ¼ marks will be deducted or there is no

negative marking it will depend upon the companies’ paper.

Questions are arranged in book in such a manner that they will help students to

practice not only easy questions but also very difficult ones.

Any criticism or suggestions for further improvement of the book will be gratefully

acknowledged and highly appreciated. The feedback can be given to the School of

Professional Attachment.

This book has been compiled as a part of an internship project by the following

students after completing their semester 6.

Selection process of the various companies

The selection process is picking the individual who have qualifications to fill in

the organization.

The basic purpose is to choose the individual who can successfully perform the

job from the given pool of the qualified candidates.

The Companies have the following rounds for recruitment:

o Aptitude test: The purpose of this round is to test the candidate's ability

of problem solving. This round contains the multiple choice questions of

quantitative, verbal, reasoning.

o Technical Round: A panel of two or more people will be asking questions related to your field, is round consists set of technical question on your area of specialization (computers, mechanical..Etc).

o Essay/case Study: In this round companies will present a particular situation and want you to lead a round table discussion to analyse the situation and develop possible solutions to address it. This is so they can see your analysis and development skills in action.

o Group Discussion: As a professional in the working world, there will be

times when you will be required to participate in group discussions. So

companies test your ability to express your thoughts in a group.

o HR interview: HR interview tests your interest and enthusiasm to work

for their company. Interviewers put normal questions but they expects

answer which shows your interest on work.

o Introduction Round: Some companies conduct their Introduction Round

separately. "Introduce yourself" is the basic question faced by every

interviewee in their interviews. This is the time where you need to tell

yourself. Speak about those which you have not covered in your resume.

o Accent Round: This round is conducted because it is important what

people sound like for the services they provide. People who call these

companies need to be able to understand the person they are talking to

on the phone and neutrality of accent so that what is said comes across

clearly to those listening. In interviews for such positions the interviewer

is likely to try and find out what the interviewee's voice is like.
