REPORT

Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), AKI‟s Poona College of Arts, Science & Commerce,

Camp, Pune has organized a Workshop entitled „preparation for NAAC accreditation as per the

latest guidelines‟ in the College Conference Hall on 7th

January 2020. The workshop was

organized to introduce the revised frame of NAAC among the teaching staff of the college and to

prepare them to work with the revised guidelines under the IQAC initiative. To give detailed of

benchmarks of the revised frame IQAC has invited to Dr. B.D. Bhole, Ex-Associate Professor

(Microbiology) & IQAC Coordinator, Abasaheb Garware College, Pune. The Program was begin

with introductory remarks of the workshop proposed by the Principle, Dr. Aftab Anwar Shaikh

followed by Introduction of the speaker by Mr. Iqbal .N. Shaikh (Vice Principal & IQAC

Coordinator). Dr. B. D. Bhole started his talk with a question – „Why NAAC has revised their

guidelines? and he himself given the answer that because we as an Institution are required to

change and become more advanced in teaching learning process. Thereafter Dr. Bhole has given

the details of different criterion with respected to changes in matric of different criterion from

old to new. Further, Dr. Bhole has given some tricks to acclimatize with latest NAAC guidelines.

Many doubts and questions related to new dimensions of “Quality Measure” proposed by NAAC

raised from the audience were satisfactorily answered by Dr. Bhole. The workshop was

compelled by Mr. Musharraf Hussain and it was successfully ended with vote of thanks proposed

by Mr. Iqbal N. Shaikh.

REPORT

Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), AKI’s Poona College of Arts, Science &

Commerce, Camp, Pune has organized One Day Non-Teaching District Level

Workshop on ‘Capacity Building by Effective Use of I.T’ on 2nd

February 2019 in

PIMSE Conference Hall. The workshop was organized to make non- teaching staff

enable to work effectively by using I.T. tools. Dr. V.P Narkhede, Joint Director,

Higher Education, Pune District was the chief guest of the workshop. Recourse

Persons from various government/Non-government organizations were invited,

namely Samsung, CINS (SPPU), Garware College, SAGITEK etc. Introduction of

the speakers were presented by Mr. Iqbal .N Shaikh (Vice Principal & IQAC

Coordinator). Resource Persons from different organizations have explained and

demonstrated the application of Information Technology in Clerical works and

insisted to move from paper and ink to screen and keyboard. Mr. Pradeep Bepari

(MD, Samsung, Delhi), told about the application of computers without any

sophisticated application. Mr. Ankush Kulkarni suggested some I.T. applications to

reduce human labour and save time. The Workshop was concluded with the

presidential address given by Principle, Dr. Aftab Anwar Shaikh followed by Vote

of thanks Proposed by Dr. Majid Mulla (Coordinator of the workshop).

Report

Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), AKIs Poona College of Arts,

Science & Commerce, Pune have organized a Senior College Teaching

Staff Meeting on 31st March 2019 in College Conference Hall to discuss

documentation and Compilation of Quantitative Matrices of Revised

NAAC Framework for framing SSR. IQAC Coordinator, Mr. Iqbal Shaikh

began the session with explaining agenda of the meeting. Principal Dr.

Aftab Anwar Shaikh shared his opinion on the current status of progress

on compilation of Quantitative data for SSR. He specifically mentioned

that how much work we have done till date and what strategy we have

adopt to work further. Criteria-wise status quantitative metrics was

presented by Mr. Iqbal N. Shaikh and highlighted the pending works.

Further Mr. Iqbal N. Shaikh explained those metrics that have higher

weightage and suggested focus on these metrics. Principal Dr. Aftab

Anwar Shaikh has given his gratitude to the staff members for their

wonderful work and encouraged them to do better.

Report

Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in association with Department of

Commerce Postgraduate and Research Center, AKI’s Poona College has organized

a seminar on “Enhancing Quality in Teaching-Learning-Process” on 9th

August

2017 in PIMSE conference hall. The main objective of holding this seminar was to

identify students’ expectations and ways to meet them effectively. Mr. Manohar

Ingale Ex Dean (Academic Affairs), MIT School of Management, Pune was the

Guest Speaker. The seminar was begun with welcome address by the Principal Dr.

Aftab Anwar Shaikh followed by highlighting of theme of the seminar proposed by

Iqbal N. Shaikh (Vice Principal & IQAC Coordinator). Mr. Manohar Ingale told

the importance of Quality Teaching. Further Mr. Ingale elaborated the need of

technology based teaching to fulfill the expectations of modern day students. The

seminar was concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Nasrin Khan

Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), AKI‟s Poona College of Arts, Science &

Commerce, Pune has organized Workshop on “Essential Documentation

Procedures, Process & Product” on 18th April 2018 in Poona College Conference

Hall. Dr. Peeyush Pahade, IQAC Coordinator, Haribhai V. Desai College, Pune

was the Resource Person. The Workshop started with Tilawat-e-Qur‟an by Dr.

Ahmed Shamshad.

Mr. Iqbal N. Shaikh, Vice Principal, Science faculty, gave a commendable

welcome speech stating the need of the hour of documentation for NAAC. Dr.

Peeyush Pahade, with his immense knowledge shared all the „do's and don'ts‟ of

the entire process of Documentation and elaborated simple, easy and effective

ways of documentation. Dr. Pahade circulated sample/template for event reporting

and supporting documentation as a process and procedure to be followed. He also

highlighted challenges in the initial phase of documentation procedure

standardization process. However, that would only follow with ease of operations

later. Dr. Pahade insisted on using simple technological apps like CamScanner to

click, organize and upload pictures of various documents. Dr. Aftab Anwar

Shaikh, Principal, gave his special Presidential address by rephrasing and

reiterating the importance of Documentation. The workshop concluded with a Q &

A session followed by feedback from the participants. The workshop was

compered by Prof. Musharraf Hussain and he himself proposed vote of thanks.

REPORT

IQAC, Poona College had organized a quality seminar on

Accreditation Process: A Paradigm Shift on 13th November 2017

from 11 am to 3.30 pm in PIMSE Conference Hall. The seminar

began by Tilawat-e-Qur'an by Dr. Javed Akhtar.Mr. Musharraf

Hussain, Chairman of Gymkhana Committee, compared the

seminar. Vice Principal, Science, Mr. Iqbal N. Shaikh has given

introductory remarks of the seminar his opening speech. Revised

guideline of different criteria was presented by respective criteria in

charge. Further Mr. Iqbal Shaikh has given the details of weightage

of different metrics of respective criteria with a comparison how

much weightage we were getting as per the old NAAC guidelines and

now how much weightage we are getting as per the revised

guideline. The seminar concluded with overall impressions by

Principal, Dr. Aftab Anwar Shaikh. Mr. Muzaffar Shaikh propose

OF HIGHER EDUCATION

REPORT

Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), AKI’s Poona College of Arts, Science &

Commerce, Pune has organized Workshop on ‘Role of NAAC in the Quality

Enhancement of Higher Education’ on 10th July 2017 in Poona College Conference

Hall. Dr. N. S. Dharmadhikari, Member, NAAC (Bangalore) peer team

was the speaker the workshop. Mr. Iqbal N. Shaikh, IQAC Coordinator,

gave a commendable welcome speech. Dr. Dharmadhikari stated that in the Indian

higher education context there is need to reduce the freedom and autonomy

resulting it into an environment of dependency and centralised decision-making.

However, committee for the draft for the National Education Policy 2019 chaired

by Dr. K. Kasturirangan has recommended setting up of the National Higher

Education Regulatory Authority (NHERA) to replace the existing regulatory

authorities. Secondly, the percentage of NAAC accredited institutions is very

low. As of now only 15 per cent institutions are accredited in India and those

having obtained A Grade are also very less in number. Of course, government is

forcing all the existing higher education institutions to get accredited by 2030.

Thus, to improve these position institutions should be accorded academic, financial

and administrative autonomy to yield better results. The workshop was compered

by Prof. Musharraf Hussain and he himself proposed vote of thanks.

REPORT

A Workshop on “Assessment & Accreditation Methodology: Revised

NAAC Guidelines” was held on 16th January 2018 from 10:30 am to

3:00 pm in PIMSE Conference Hall. The Chief Guest for the said

workshop was Dr. N. S. Dharmadhikari, Member, NAAC (Bangalore)

peer team. The workshop began with Tilawat-e-Qur’an by Dr.

Shamshad Ahmed. The convening was done by Prof. Musharraf

Shaikh. Welcome address was given by Prof. Iqbal Shaikh,

Coordinator, IQAC & Vice Principal of Science. He insisted on how

the new guidelines have uplifted the quality standards and

benchmarked various criteria. Dr. Dharmadhikari was felicitated at

the hands of Hon. Principal Dr. Aftab Anwar Shaikh. The Chief

Guest took over the platform with detailed and full of precision talk

wherein he explained ICT to be, “outcome oriented and Industry

based academic neighborhood by community root connect by using

technology”. Dr. Dharmadhikari asserted that the new NAAC

guidelines have been introduced for the sake of training the brain of

students for placement gain. Dr. Dharmadhikari’s has given some

ideas to work smartly with the revised NAAC guideline without

toughening. Principal Dr. Aftab Anwar Shaikh has given his

presidential address followed by vote of thanks proposed by Prof.

Moinuddin Khan, Vice Principal of Arts.

IQAC, Poona College in association with Educational Multi Media Research

Center, Savitribai Phule Pune University has organized a Workshop on e-Content

Development on 20th

January 2016 in Poona College Conference Hall. Dr.

Balkrishna Damle, Producer, EMMRC, SPPU was the Resource Person. The

objective of this workshop was to enable our teachers to make teaching videos. Mr.

Iqbal N. Shaikh (Vice Principal & IQAC Coordinator) has given a commendable

welcome speech. Dr. Shirin Shaikh (IQAC Member & Workshop Coordinator) has

introduced the speaker. Dr. Balkrishna Damle told that Technology has touched

almost all the aspect of our life. There is not a single aspect that is left untouched

by technology. In the present era of blooming technology, educators too are

welcoming the use of technology and leaning on technology to support the process

of teaching and learning. Technology connects teachers and learners, but it is also

connecting learners with learners all around the world. E-content can be

remarkably effective in engaging students. Dr. Damle emphasized on the process

of e-content development to be phased out as –
