The JOY Quadbolter is a track-mounted roofbolter fitted with two highly manoeuvrable boom assemblies. On the end of each boom is an operator platform fitted with two HFX roofbolter units. The quadbolter also incorporates an inbuilt temporary roof support.
Introduction
The quadbolter is available in either wet or dry drill models and capable of operating in heights from 7.5 to 14.7 feet (2.3 to 4.5 meters).

Electrical System
The machine is controlled by programmable sensor controller (PSC). The PSC provides both input and output controls for the machine.
Controller
The main isolator is a circuit breaker that controls all power to the machine from the load side to the circuit breaker. The main isolator can be operated in three ways:1. Manually.2. Magnetically.3. Shunt trip.
Breaker Circuit
The pilot control circuit allows supply to the machine to be energized from the machine. The pilot circuit comprises of :1. Cable run out switch2. Main circuit breaker interlock3. M/C door interloack4. Pump motor micro therm5. Emergency stop switches6. Remote start switch7. 30 ohm resistor8. End of the line diode
Pilot Control
The earth leakage circuitry for the secondary of the control transformer, consists of two major components, earth leakage toroids and earth leakage relays. Toroids moniter the current in the conductors. The earth leakage relays latch when the toroid detects an imbalance in the current flow.
Earth Leakage
Methane is monitered by one general body methane gas detector located on the drilling platform. The detector is situated to detect the methane levels in the general body atmosphere.
Methane Circuit
The machine is fitted with two machine lights at each end of the machine. Each light consists of a white and red light. The machine lights are controlled from the machine light switch located on the main enclosure. The switch allows the lights to be operated in auto, off or all on positions.
