Lange Memorial Forest family for this gift. In 1980, John and Irma Lange donated over 700 acres of forest land to the town for public recreation in memory of their son William. This land comprises roughly half of Fairlee's current town forest. We are all indebted to the Lange The Camps of Aloha Foundation, Chapman's Country Store, Mrs. Chapman's Gift Shop, Fairlee Feed & Saddlery, Fairlee Marine, Holy Mackerel Seafood, Hulbert Outdoor Center, Lake Morey Foundation, Lake Morey Protective Association, Priscilla Labowitz, Two Rivers Ottauquechee Regional Commission, Upper Valley Trails Alliance, Whippi Dip, and Hardware and Building Supply, Peter Lange FFF volunteers to for the cartography. Arlene Guest Fairlee Boasts over 35 miles of public trails through one of east-central Vermont's largest unfragmented forests. With stunning mountain views, rushing streams, and an 80+ acre network of pristine wetlands, the forests of Fairlee are a valuable recreational resource as well as ideal habitat for nearly every species of Northeastern wildlife. Over 90% of the continent's songbird speciies migrate thousands of miles each year to nest in these forests - more than in any other part of North America. This is a treasure to cherish and preserve. Our public and conserved private lands are therefore managed for forest health, habitat, and recreation, as well as timber, but all of us who live here or visit play a role in their stewardship.
