the colour scheme I used in my preliminary task wasn't very eye-catching, it seems that there was a lot of orange used and it didn't fit in with the conventions of a school magazine. In my main task I carried out market research and I found that people would like the colour scheme of black, white and red this as it would be easier for my audience to read the text on the page. I also carried out some more research for music magazines, and they tend to use red, black and white meaning that that it is another convention that I needed to follow for my music magzine. Both of the images used in both magazines were different, the one in my preliminary task was more conventional than the other used in my main task. The one in my preliminary task fitted in the conventions of my magazine as it was aimed at college students. However, my image for my main task followed conventions to an extent, although my model looks submissive in the photo I did cover her flesh to subvert some conventions. The difference between the quality of the photos is that on took one with a digital camera, so the quality control of my picture was very limited compared to my main task, which I took with a single reflex camera. I also did some basic editing to the photo to make it look much more clearer and shaper.Another improvement I can see is that my use of puffs got better, they follow the shape of my model rather than just being put on any place of my cover. This shows that I understand conventions of music magazines. From researching and adopting the style of the way puffs are put on music magazines, I put more puffs on while following the shape of my cover model.
