Real examples of

synergyThrough my research into real music artists from the Pop/R’n’b genre, I have learnt that the majority displayed the use of synergy in a small and subtle way. This has showed me how I should display synergy across my production products.

Synergy Elle Varner uses her curly hair synergy in the majority of her music videos from this album, along with the actual artist as her synergy.

Katy Perry uses clouds as synergy in the majority of her videos such as in the ‘California Gurls’. However in other music videos from this album she incorporates the idea of clouds in the way the music videos feature clear and sunny weather, instead of featuring actual clouds.

Kelly Rowland uses synergy across this product as she uses a blue tint on both her digipak and in her music video. She also has straight hair across the product and also, the feel of both products is quite dark.

Ancillary products

In my production products I decided to use synergy in a small and subtle way, so it wasn’t overbearing for the audience. I observed my music video and realised it would be good to make the digipak reflect the mood of my music video. My artist was quite serious and gloomy however, the weather in majority of the music video was bright, sunny and clear so contrasted with my artist. This emphasizes the tone of the song and music.

In this way I used synergy in my digpak as I used the same clouds background in both my advert and album. However, I also used synergy amongst my digpak and my music video, through the way the artist appears on all of the products. Synergy was also used through the clouds background and use of bright fonts, as it reflects the bright and sunny weather in the music video.

Audience FeedbackFrom receiving audience feedback from my target audience I know that my synergy was effective and very clear, as they could identify the way I used the cloud’s filter for my background for synergy. Because of this I realised that my use of synergy was successful across my digipak and music video. The feedback also showed me that my products would appeal to my target audience, as my use of synergy between the products link them together. This means that the products would be recongisable along with the Pop/R’n’b genre as they all include soft colours and strong/ serious poses from the artist. The actual artist’s poses and facial expressions work to contrast with the soft colours; this is common in Pop/R’n’b genre as shown in an example from my previous slide.
