At 2015 Board of Directors Annual Meeting held in December, the board updated its mission, vision and strategic goals. The board also added a tagline to help brand the organization. The following two slides list the boards new strategic direction.

Congressman Beto O'Rourke, Patricia Gonzalez, Workforce Development Division Deputy Director- Programs, Texas Workforce Commission, Lieutenant Colonel A. P. Stewart Ft. Bliss Garrison Executive Officer and Leila Melendez, Business Manager gave their remarks to employers at the opening ceremony.
Manufacturing Industry CouncilWorkforce Solutions Borderplex Business Services Unit hosted the first Manufacturers Roundtable. The Industry Councils are part of our commitment to the BorderplexAlliance regional strategic plan to grow the targeted Industry clusters identified in the report. The purpose of the roundtable is to capture the temperature of the industry needs as it relates to the workforce, training, challenges and open discussion.
The roundtable was held at the Workforce Solutions Borderplex Downtown Career Center on December 17, 2015 from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Companies that participated included Keats Southwest, Excel Garment Manufacturing, Flexicorp, CNC Manufacturing, JCR Associates, and Coast Personnel Services.

The Workforce Solutions Borderplex Mobile Unit provides job search assistance through the usage of computers, internet, printers and a qualified career specialist to assist customers. The mobile unit is also equipped with information on the many federal programs to help guide any customer type looking for help.

SAVE THE DATES: MAJOR EVENTSAdult Education Literacy Forum: February 24, 2016 Adult Education Literacy consortium will have a curriculum development meeting with approximately six hotels on February 24th, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the El Paso Community College Administrative Services Building. The consortium aims to design a curriculum for three separate training courses based on the feedback from the employers present.
Industry Fair: March 17, 2016The first Targeted Industry Fair is scheduled for March 17, 2016 from 9am to 2pm at the Marriot Hotel Grand Ballroom. The industries targeted are Transportation, Construction and Warehousing.
STEM+Art Fiesta: April 7 & 8, 2016STEM+Art Fiesta is a unique, multidimensional event for middle school students in a region created to increase student awareness of opportunities in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) + Art education and careers. There are also seven STEM and Art focused high school competitions that will also take place on both days.
