The DOH recently announced an extension of the facemaskrequirement for students and staff working in school settingswhere students are present. Facemasks are legally requiredand mandated by the state for full-time, in-person instructionto occur.

Facemasks: Required for all students and staff working inschools.Physical Distancing: Requirements will not prevent full-time in-person learning inschools. Physical distancing will remain at 3-feet in classrooms and 6-feet in commonspaces where possible.Vaccinations: Not a requirement for school; however, it is the strongest protectivemeasure against COVID-19 available to students 12 and older.

Reimagining Excellence: Pathway toRecovery

As we celebrate returning to school, exciting work ishappening in Puyallup Schools. Reimagining our ‘tradition ofexcellence’ is not just about academics, but also social andemotional wellness and recovery for students. Our Academic and Student Well-being Recovery Plan represents our best efforts to identify andrespond to impacts on student learning caused by the pandemic. Our plan will:

Identify students in need of academic and well-being supportDe�ne how supports will be provided through identi�able resources, andPlan for recovery and acceleration of student learning

This year you’ll hear more about resources available and the ways we plan to supportstudents. Join with us on our pathway to recovery as this work evolves.

Administration Hours of Operation

Our Education Service Center (Administration Bldg.) remainsopen to the public via phone and in-person ready to assistfamilies. Unvaccinated visitors are required to wear a mask.The following hours of operation are in place:

Now – Aug. 13: 7:45 a.m. – 4 p.m. (Summer Hours)Beginning Aug. 16: 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Back-to-School Checklist From bell schedules to online payments, the back-to-school checklist provides informationand links to direct webpages that will help prepare your child for the �rst day of school. Seeking Advisory Committee Members: Aug. 13 Deadline This year, as we continue to listen and seek feedback from all stakeholders, you have anopportunity to provide guidance as we make meaningful changes in our organization. Applytoday for consideration to be a member of our CARE team. Applications will be collectedthrough midnight on Aug. 13. Bus Transportation Opt-Out SurveyTo help us align transportation resources, we are asking families who will not need busservice in the fall to participate in a Transportation Opt-Out survey by Aug. 6. The opt-outsurvey is voluntary and is designed for us to gather information on families who know theywill not need bus service for their child in the upcoming school year.

Registration Reminder As a result of the pandemic, many families delayed registering their child for kindergartenresulting in a decline in student enrollment. If your child will be �ve years old on or beforeAugust 31, or if you child is new to the district, parents are highly encouraged to enroll theirchild online as soon as possible. Consent to Share Information: Required for Grades 9-12 If your child quali�es for free and reduced-priced meals, families are required to submit aConsent to Share survey to receive additional fee waivers. House Bill 1660 states thatdistricts cannot automatically remove fees for students who are eligible via a mealapplication, without parental consent. Eligible items for fee waivers include ASB cards,athletic participation fees, device coverage, and more.
