Purpose in the Hebrew means:Original intentThe original reason why something is

createdWhy something exist is called it’s purposeGod is more interested in His purpose

than He is our plans.

PURPOSE & DESTINY PT. 3Destiny — something to do in this life,

something only you can do. Something intended for us.

Your life isn't an accident. You have a destiny, one that only you can complete. You have to make to choice to complete it.

Before you were born, God wired you with certain ambitions, desires, and drives to play a particular role in history — one that only you can play.


Ephesians 1:11 In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will,

2 Timothy 1:9 who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began,

PURPOSE & DESTINY PT. 3 It is from faith to faith that we are led into

the destiny that God has prepared for each one of us.

When we step out in faith and forcibly lay hold of what God has already apprehended for us, we are not only solidifying our faith, but we are adding to and capturing the measure of faith and vision that is already at work in our lives.

PURPOSE & DESTINY PT. 3 We are told in 2 Corinthians 13:5 to examine

ourselves and see whether we are in the faith. What the apostle Paul is talking about is; are we walking the walk of faith of which we have been called to.

In order for the faith of God to take root in our hearts in the right way it must be founded upon the path that God has established for our lives.

If we are walking in a direction that is contrary to the will and purpose of God for our lives, our faith is useless. It will not produce the kind of results that God has intended for us.

PURPOSE & DESTINY PT. 3Fulfilling Your Destiny What's Holding You Back?

2 Timothy 4:7-8. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

{8}Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day,

and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.


Paul was able to say at the end of his life that he had finished the race, he had completed and fulfilled the destiny that God had laid before him.


How many of us are going through life with the attitude that we have a destiny to fulfill?

How many of us even care or ever thought about it?


Maybe at one time we really did care and were full of zeal and enthusiasm with our hearts set on fire to fulfill the destiny and calling God had for our lives,

but something has happened in the process that has caused us to be blown off course.

“That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,” said the Cat.

“I don’t much care where–” said Alice.

“Then it doesn’t matter which way you go,” said the Cat.

“–so long as I get SOMEWHERE,” Alice added as an explanation.

“Oh, you’re sure to do that,” said the Cat, “if you only walk long enough.”


How can you pick a road to somewhere when you don’t know where you are going? How do you get “there” when you don’t know or don’t care where “there” is?

Not having a direction, not having a goal, not knowing where you are going, it’s all the same.

You go nowhere. You can never get “there,” can never arrive anywhere, because you don’t really have a destination.


What are the areas of your life where you seem to lack direction?

Grab some paper and start a list. It could be anything – just write it down. Clothing style, hair (style, color, length, …), job or career, friends, purchases, sales, or whatever it may be.


Moving forward, what road will take me to a destination that I can’t specify?

As usual, most of life’s difficulties come down to preparation.

Too little or too much, or just sitting there with “analysis paralysis” the result is the same.

You don’t get what you want, you don’t go where you had hoped to end up.


The first step is to get an idea of what you want to do. Select one of the areas you are lacking in direction.

Pray ask God for direction & brainstorm some possible options. Write them down.

Then ask God to direct your steps as you consider each one and narrow the field down to just a few of the best and most appropriate possibilities as God lays it on your heart.


"What's holding you back from fulfilling your destiny or calling/purpose in God? It's important to understand that when God saved us

from the destruction and sin that we were all drowning in, He saved us with a purpose.

2 Timothy 1:9 who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began,

Prov. 19:21-There are many plans in a man’s heart, Nevertheless the Lord’s counsel/purpose –that will stand.

PURPOSE & DESTINY PT. 3 I am convinced that our well being, our health, our financial provision and walking in the abundant life are all found on the path that leads to our destiny in God.

In 2 Tim. 1:9-Paul is encouraging us that in the grace God He has called us, with a holy calling.

God didn't call us because of our works or because we were deserving or worthy of it, but just to accomplish His purposes of love and of grace which was given us in Christ before the world began.


And so He said to Ephesus, "You've left your first love"(Rev. 2:4). You've got all these works, man, you got this whole thing going, all kinds of works, but I have this against you, because you've left your first love. I don't want a legal relationship with you. I want a loving relationship with you.

Ephesus had come to a place where their whole religion was based only on works and not a relationship with Christ. One major purpose in Christ is to love Him first.

What is our Purpose (the reason we were created)?; Our Destiny (our choice to do what only we are able/called to do in this life)?

The Bible doesn't encourage us really to just maintain.

It encourages us to grow, to develop, to add to our "faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge". To develop and experience the growth.

PURPOSE & DESTINY PT. 3 Destiny (what’s intended for us)-God has given to us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, but these things lie on the path that leads to our ultimate destiny in God.

2 Peter 1:3-5 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,

{4}by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

PURPOSE & DESTINY PT. 3{5}But also for this very reason, giving

all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self control, to self control perseverance, to perseverance, godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness and to brotherly kindness love.

{8} For if these things are yours and abound, you will neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

PURPOSE & DESTINY PT. 3 {9} For he who lacks these things is short-

sighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.

{10} Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your calling and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble.

And I would encourage you to look at your own life. Your purpose/Your destiny

Where are you standing?

Where are you going?

What are your spiritual goals?


Are you growing? Are you developing in your spiritual walk in life? In looking back, have you progressed this past year? Have there been real spiritual gains made in your life? Or are you just sort of treading water? Running on a treadmill? Maintaining?

Been diligent, "adding to your faith….Your life will begin to really bring forth fruit.

Make a decision to spend time with God in your personal walk.

Your life will be filled with the knowledge and the understanding of our Lord by which the grace and the love and the peace will be multiplied in your life.
