Fireplace SurroundsWhatever the style of your home or personal taste, you are certain to find a PureGlow fire surround that is just right for you.

If your heart is set on a stone surround then we have a range of two finishes for you to consider, see below for details. If a wood finish is your preference, you will appreciate the warmth and character of our Natural Oak and painted finish surrounds.

Aegean Limestone Completely natural, it is composed of tiny fossils and other organisms that at one time formed part of the sea bed.

Portuguese limestone These surrounds feature natural variations such as shading, veining, fossils and crystal markings. As a consequence every fireplace is totally unique.

These are commonly found in older houses (pre-1960) and are identifiable by a 7” (180mm) or greater diameter flue. Prior to installation of a new fireplace, an existing flue must be structurally sound and checked for blockages.

These are found either in an older house where the existing flue has been lined with a proprietary steel flue or in a newer house with a steel flue built in. Identifiable by a 5” (130mm) or greater diameter flue and a steel flue terminal.

Many newer properties that do not have chimneys are fitted with pre-cast flues made from hollow concrete or clay blocks. These travel vertically up through the cavity wall of the property to a ridge vent or metal flue terminal on the roof.

Modern houses often have no chimney and one option is a PureGlow balanced flue gas fire from our high efficiency cast fire range. Another option when no chimney is available is an electric fire which can be located in virtually any room in the house.

The heat source you can have in your home is largely dependent on the type of chimney you have. Please check your own requirements with your fireplace retailer or installer.

Installation

All appliances must be fitted by a competent person in accordance with the manufacturer’s installation instructions. Gas appliances must be installed by a competent engineer. Gas SafeTM (formerly known as CORGI) registered operatives are the only class of person considered as competent by the HSE under the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998.

Our policy is one of continued improvement and development and therefore the right to change specification without prior notice is reserved. All dimensions are approximate.

No liability is accepted for problems caused by poor installation or misuse of our products. All PureGlow products should be fully inspected prior to installation as no responsibility for re-fitting, repairs or redecoration can be accepted if defective products have been installed. If installing a PureGlow surround in conjunction with a fire not manufactured by PureGlow, please refer to the manufacturer for suitability.

All the images throughout this brochure are for illustrative purposes only. The colours shown in the brochure are as accurate as possible, however some natural materials may vary due to the nature of the products. Some room sets may appear not to comply with the requirements of the latest building regulations, we would always advise that you check your propel with your approved fitter before proceeding with any project. This brochure was correct at the time of printing.

Cleaning and MaintenanceCast Iron - All cast iron products have a protective, oil based coating on polished surfaces. This should be cleaned off during installation. It is recommended that a spray-type oil is applied occasionally to discourage rusting. Ensure that your room is thoroughly dry before installation. Under no circumstances should a water based cleaner or polish be used to clean cast iron products.

Stone - Stone is naturally porous, so all Aegean surfaces should be pre-sealed to avoid staining. Portuguese limestone, once installed and dry, should be cleaned and sealed where necessary using suitable limestone sealing solution. Protect the surface from coloured liquids such as fruit juices and red wine. In the event of an accident, use a specialist cleaning and resealing kit.

Marble - Protect the surface from strong coloured solutions and citrus juices. To maintain the subtle shine of the surface, occasionally wipe over with a solution of general household cleaner and buff with a soft dry cloth. Do not use any bleach or abrasive cleaning agents.

Veneered MDF - As this material is not resistant to very hot items, we recommend that it is not used in conjunction with any solid fuel fires. To clean, dust occasionally with a soft dry cloth. Avoid silicon based sprays.

Gas Fires – A gas fire is a technical piece of equipment and, just like a gas boiler, needs regular servicing. Please have your gas fire serviced by a Gas Safe™ Register (Board Gais in ROI) registered installer.

Gas Fires

Your guarantee commences from the date of purchase, provided that the following terms and conditions are adhered to.

1. Any claim made within three years will require proof of purchase.

2. Your gas fire must have been commissioned by a competent person. Gas Safe registered operatives are the only class of person considered competent by the HSE under the Gas Safety (installation and use) Regulations 1998. Evidence of this must be provided together with the Gas Safe registration number.

3. Your gas fire must have been serviced annually by a competent person (see point 2 above), evidence of which must be provided.

Consumable items such as any ceramics including; coals, pebbles, the matrix, front strips, side cheeks, rear panels, tapered rear panels and decorative items are not covered by the guarantee.

Electric Fires

Your guarantee commences from the date of purchase and must be installed as per our recommendations stated in the installation manual. Consumable items such as any coals, logs and decorative items are not covered by the guarantee. This guarantee excludes any unfitting or refitting cost incurred.
