A New Effortless Mashing ExperiencePURÉ is an ergonomically and inclusively designed masher designed to alleviate the stresses on the hand targeted towards an ageing population. It has a carefully designed handle and a unique wrist support feature that supports the wrist at an optimum angle to promote the correct use of the tool.

The PURÉ stainless steel mashing element provides the optimum mashing surface requiring the least amount of force, providing you with a smooth and effortless mashing experience. It is easy to clean and it’s stainless steel quality guarantees years of rust-free mashing.

The PURÉ handle comes in a variety of colours. It consists of a nylon core for strength and rigid support, with synthetic rubber anti-slip details for grip and comfort.

Wrist Support & ProtectionThe PURÉ masher features a unique wrist support that alleviates the stresses on the hand by supporting the wrist during mashing process. The support feature also protects the wrist from heat, steam and potential splash.

Stabilising the wrist encourages force to be applied from the shoulder reducing damage to the more susceptible and fragile joints. Extensive user research has determined the optimum design for the PURÉ handle, allowing it to be used in both a standing or sitting position without jeopardising the efficiency and support of the masher. Design MethodologyBy fully understanding the target user it is possible to create a successful product because it ‘speaks’ to its users. User centred design is a design methodology that involves the user in the design process. It employs a method where the user is actively engaged throughout the whole design process, from early key development stages to design considerations and product testing. Inclusive design addresses the design of mainstream products that will be available for as many people as possible without having to adapt the product for special needs

These two methodologies have been a central theme throughout, encouraging close interaction with the user and ensuring a real problem has been addressed. Discovering un-met needs in the kitchen by observing users interact with their products first hand has directly targeted an everyday problem encountered by the average user.
