On the radio waves, the contest will be available on the Purdue Radio Network with Larry Clisby and Rob Blackman on the call, beginning with the Purdue Basketball pregame show at 7:30 p.m. Wes Scott will produce the radio broadcast. Due to contractual obligations, Purdue’s radio broadcast will not be available on TuneIn.com or SIRIUS / XM Satellite Radio. The Westwood One national radio broadcast will be available on those entities. • Live stats will be provided on PurdueSports.com, and Twitter updates will be available on Purdue’s official account (@BoilerBall). THE MAIN TALKING POINTS 1) Purdue is aiming for its third straight Sweet 16. The Boilermakers are one of five teams still playing to reach Sweet 16s in each of the last two years. 2) Purdue hasn’t made three straight Sweet 16s since the 1998 to 2000 tournaments. The 2000 team reached the Elite Eight. 3) A win would give Purdue 25 wins for the fourth straight season, something accomplished once before in school history (2008 to 2011). 4) A 25th win would make Purdue the seventh active team with 25 wins in four straight seasons (Nova, Kansas, UNC, Gonzaga, Kentucky, Duke). 5) Purdue’s seniors (Ryan Cline and Grady Eifert) own a 107-33 career record, tying the school record for most victories by a senior class. 6) Matt Painter’s 12 NCAA Tournament appearances are most nationally for a coach under the age of 55. He is 48 years old. 7) Purdue and North Carolina are the only teams to rank in the top 15 of the Associated Press’ final top 25 poll in each of the last four years. 8) Over the last eight games, Purdue has held its opponents to 59.8 points per game, 36.3 percent shooting and 28.5 percent from 3-point range. 9) Through Jan. 31, Purdue was ranked 70th in defensive efficiency according to KenPom. Purdue now ranks 26th in defensive efficiency. 10) Purdue and Villanova COULD have met twice last year, before Purdue lost previous games in the Battle 4 Atlantis and NCAA Tournament. 11) Carsen Edwards missed his first free throw during his career in NCAA Tournament play vs. Old Dominion. He is now 29-of-30 from the stripe in NCAAs. 12) Matt Haarms became the first player to lead the Big Ten in field goal percentage and blocks since Ohio State’s Greg Oden in 2007. 13) Ryan Cline needs two three-pointers to become the third player in school history with 100 trifectas in a season (Carsen Edwards, Troy Lewis). 14) Grady Eifert leads the country in offensive rating (143.0). It’s the fourth-best rating in the KenPom era (since 2004). 15) Carsen Edwards has been named to two All-American squads, on his way to possibly being a consensus All-American.

GAME 34 // PURDUE vS. villaNova // MARCH 23, 2019 // XL CENTER // NCAA TOURNAMENT SECOND ROUNDHEAD COACH MATT PAINTER} Record at Purdue: 319-158 (.669) / 14th year | Career Record: 344-163 (.679) / 15th year• With four Sweet 16 appearances, 11 NCAA Tournament berths, three Big Ten regular-season championships, a Big Ten Tournament title and an
international gold medal on his résumé, 14th-year head coach Matt Painter is widely regarded as one of the brightest young minds in all of college basketball.
• Painter affirmed his long-term commitment to Purdue in October of 2018, agreeing to a two-year extension that will keep him in West Lafayette through at least the 2023-24 season. The deal features five, one-year extensions that go into effect through the 2028-29 season. Following the 2029 season, Painter will still only be 58 years old.
• Painter entered the 2018-19 season third on the school’s all-time wins list (295) behind legendary mentors, Gene Keady and Ward “Piggy” Lam-bert, both of whom have been inducted into the College Basketball Hall of Fame.
• Has averaged almost 23 wins a season in his 14 years at Purdue. If you don’t include the first transitional year, the average balloons to 23.8 wins per year over the last 13 seasons.
• Has won at least 25 games in eight of his 14 seasons as a collegiate head coach.• Painter’s four Big Ten Coach of the Year honors are the third most in league history (Gene Keady - 7; Bobby Knight - 5; Bo Ryan - 4). • Painter has averaged 10.9 wins per year in conference play, the fifth-best average in Big Ten Conference history.• Is one of just three active coaches to have won a Big Ten championship. • Painter’s 11 NCAA Tournaments in the last 13 years are the eighth most in the country.• Purdue’s four Sweet 16 appearances in the last 10 years are the ninth most nationally.• Painter’s 343 wins are the second most nationally for a coach nationally in under 15 years of coaching.• Coach Painter’s 12 NCAA Tournaments are the most for a coach nationally under the age of 55 (as of April 1, 2019 -- Painter is 48 years old).• Has produced draft picks in each of the last three years, one of only six programs nationally that can say that. • Purdue is one of five teams to have a Naismith position award finalist in each of the last four years. • Purdue has finished first or second in Big Ten play in seven of Painter’s last 12 years. • Has had 54 Academic All-Big Ten honorees in his 13 previous years at Purdue. • Lastly, the five winningest classes in school history have come during the Painter era (2019,
2018, 2012, 2011, 2010).
