Singapore literature, affectionately known as SingLit, are
stories about us, by us. SingLit captures our experiences,
aspirations, cultures – in short, our lives. As Singapore
identities evolve, our stories continue to remain important. They
transform readers by exposing them to history, values and new
perspectives. They help readers traverse the past, present and
future and help awaken young readers to their own potential in
doing so.
Read Our World: SingLit Book Gift For Schools 2018 aims to
cultivate a love for SingLit in young readers. We have curated a
list of books across genres, forms, themes and languages that we
hope will complement your school’s existing reading resources,
while catering to different reading competencies and interests. To
help bring these words to life, we have limited Meet-the-Author
sessions available for booking, and complimentary book display
stands to help schools showcase the books.
We want to support teachers as they introduce students to the
diverse stories and experiences of our world. These stories should
serve as a shared experience and a part of the childhood of every
young Singaporean. We are proud of our home-grown literature, and
we hope you and your students will enjoy what SingLit has to offer
too.
