THE WOODLANDS TOWNSHIP OPERATIONS and PUBLIC SAFETY REPORT The Woodlands Township March 25, 2009 Public Safety Banquet Recognizing Honor & Valor Public Safety Heroes 2008-2009 Honorees Thirteen public safety heroes were recognized on March 6, 2009 for going the extra mile to make The Woodlands, Town Center and South Montgomery County a safe community as The Woodlands Township presented the 14th Annual Public Safety Heroes Awards Banquet with the theme “Recognizing Honor & Valor.” Nelda Luce Blair, Chairman of the Board of The Woodlands Township, said, “This is certainly one of the most worthwhile events in our community, and we have once again produced an excep- tional program for these special heroes. Since The Woodlands has one of the lowest crime rates in the nation, these individuals deserve our recognition and appreciation.” Each honoree was nominated by their peers and superiors for outstanding community ser- vice. Their unique individual stories were illustrated in a commemorative video, one of the many highlights of the evening. Honorees were also recognized by U. S. Congressman Kevin Brady, State Senator Tommy Williams and State Representative Rob Eissler with special letters of commendation.

February Ambassador Comments—2009
The month of was slow with only 2 events, Valen-tine’s Day Celebration and Go Texan Day. Bothevents were held at Market Street. Ambassadorsare looking forward to seeing the new and im-proved Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion and greet-ing the many visitors who will be attending eventsthere.
Events and Other Activities:
Ambassadors directed visitors to the “GoTexan Day” and “Valentine’s Day Celebration”at Market Street
Two of our Ambassadors assisted at the videoshoot for Lt. Bob Watts, the Public Safety Herofrom AlliedBarton Security at The Mall
Ambassadors attended the lunch & learn train-ing “Preventing Stress and Burn Out”
Safety & Security:
Ambassador assisted a grandmother with ayoung boy who had fallen from his bicycle atTown Green Park. No medical assistance wasnecessary

Visitors from near and far were greeted. Am-bassadors were happy to assist with directions,general information, and taking pictures.

Video Meetings
A new web based video recording system was in-stalled in The Woodlands Township’s BoardRoom. The system allows for the recording ofBoard, Executive and Special meetings.

Board Room
The Board Room doors have a new look. Forpractical purposes glass was installed in the doors.This allows for a view into the room during meet-ings. This will be especially beneficial during publicmeetings, as the doors can now be closed provid-ing for a quieter atmosphere.

Throughout the month Troopers notified appropriate security or law enforcement on a variety ofissues:Trooper checked on a car alarm going off in the parking lot at Timberloch & Waterway AvenueNotified the Sheriff’s Office regarding two young children (4 and 8 years old) left unattended in a
running vehicleNotified Mall security of a family dispute in the parking lot. Trooper spoke with the couple, who
then left in separate vehicles
Customer Relations & Service:Patron asked a Trooper to call her cell phone to see if she could find itTrooper assisted an elderly patron in locating her vehicle in the Mall parking lotTrooper assisted a patron who had locked his keys in his vehiclePatrons looking to move to this area thought that the Mounted Patrol was an awesome ideaPatron from San Antonio stated that she was going to bring her boys back to Wal-Mart to
see the Mounted Patrol, because it was too cool
