Digital public advertising

I am fan of the 2002 sci-fi movie Minority Report. In the film Tom Cruise is

bombarded by digital advertising as he walks through a crowded mall. The ads

are triggered by a retina scan personalizing the offering to respond to the

character's specific needs. (In the case of the film, Tom Cruise actually replaced

his eyes with another character's so the ads reflect that person's preferences).

A recent article in Always on talked about the emergence of adverting in public

spaces such as NYC taxi cabs. Combining that with the growth of behavioral

targeting the world described in Minority Report is rapidly emerging. Each

generation has become more desensitized to the onslaught of media. My 16

year old son is perfectly happy doing his homework, responding to multiple IM

messages all while listing to his favorite tunes. I have no doubt that his current

ability to manage multiple media inputs will allow him to handle the coming

onslaught of personalized advertising. The growth of public space advertising

over the next 5 years will be dramatic.

wat is? a public space or a public place is a place where anyone has a right to come without being excluded because of economic or social conditions, although this may not always be the case in practice. one of the earliest examples of public spaces are commons. for example, no fees or paid tickets are required for entry, nor are the entrants discriminated based on background.

Advertising: It's Everywhere No, it's not your imagination. The amount of advertising and

marketing North Americans are exposed to daily has exploded over the past decade; studies show, that on average we see 3,000 ads per day. At the gas pumps, in the movie theatre, in a washroom stall, during sporting events—advertising is impossible to avoid.

Even outer space isn't safe from commercialization: the Russian space program launched a rocket bearing a 30-foot Pizza Hut logo, and some companies have investigated placing ads in space that will be visible from earth.

The challenge of the future may be finding public and private spaces that are free of advertising.

Verantwoordelijkheid > Vaak terugkerende termen in de ethiek zijn: doel en middelen, keuzevrijheid, verantwoordelijkheid, aanvaardbaarheid, waarheid en universaliteit.

Toegepaste ethiek > richt zich op specifieke kwesties als abortus en journalistieke juistheid. Ethiek gaat over plichten, of over wat je behoort te doen, en bestaan uit principes en regels die je nodig hebt om goed en kwaad van elkaar te kunnen onderscheiden.

formele beroepsethiek middels de beroepscode zoals de wet en formele uitspraken waarin de waarden en doelen van het beroep zijn vastgelegd.

informele beroepsethiek, deze bestaat uit ongeschreven regels voor het beroepsmatig handelen.

De informele beroepsethiek kan eigen gemaakt worden op twee manieren, namelijk door zelfkennis en praktische kennis van zaken. De eerste, zelfkennis heeft te maken met openstaan voor jezelf, inzicht hebben in innerlijke processen en de mogelijkheid aangrijpen tot zelf ontplooiing te komen. Kennis van zaken opdoen doe je op door middel van intuïtie, oppikken van traditie, autoriteit en door ervaring.
