___________________________________________________________________ MEDIA RELEASE ___________________________________________________________________ 11 November 2019 PSA KOLKATA ACHIEVES RECORD MONTHLY THROUGHPUT AND COMMISSIONS 11 NEW REACH STACKERS PSA’s Bharat Kolkata Container Terminals (“PSA Kolkata”), a subsidiary of PSA International Pte Ltd, set a new monthly throughput record of 61,755 TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit) in October 2019 at Netaji Subhas Dock, Kolkata Port Trust. October also saw a cumulative total of 3 million TEUs handled by PSA Kolkata since the start of operations in November 2014. On 1 November, PSA Kolkata upgraded its equipment with the commissioning of 11 new reach stackers, increasing its equipment numbers and replacing older equipment. In addition, PSA Kolkata will receive new and replacement Tractor Trailers by the end of the year. Trial Mobile Harbour Crane operations also continue at a berth previously only used for geared vessels, increasing both productivity and capacity at PSA Kolkata. Mr Vineet Kumar, Chairman of Kolkata Port Trust, said, “It is heartening to see the volumes grow and to achieve highest ever monthly container output. I hope that with the new equipment in place and further efforts, we will achieve new milestones.” Mr Sanjay Patra, PSA Kolkata’s Terminal Manager, said, “We are pleased to add to the rich history of Kolkata Port Trust with these new records. We sincerely thank Kolkata Port Trust, the trade and port users for working closely alongside us to reach these milestones.
