Career Day at PS 24

Career Day is an annual event that we hold for our

4th and 5th Grade students. This is a great way to

introduce our students to the many opportunities

available to them. They also learn what they will need

to do in order to get these jobs—like staying on task

and getting a good education. We thank our guests

for coming to share their work experiences with our

children. Our thanks also to our Guidance Counselor

Ellen Hochberg for coordinating this event and also

many thanks to our PTA volunteers for coming to facil-

itate the event.

PS 24Q Third Thursday “Parents As Partners” Workshop & PTA Night — Science Fair

This month our focus is on STEM: Science, Technology, Engineer-

ing, and Math. Families who were able to attend the morning

“Third Thursday” workshop were excited to see their child and

classmates explain their science projects—from the initial ques-

tion to the hypothesis, procedure and the conclusion. Then for the

evening PTA meeting, all presentations were made available for

viewing in the gymnasium. This was a good opportunity for our

families to get a better understanding of the work done across all

grades.

Science is all around us and time outside of school presents im-

portant opportunities for continual learning. For a list of summer

CASA at PS 24!

Thanks to special funding from Councilman Peter Koo, PS 24 was able to

offer our first and third grade students an opportunity to work with a pro-

gram called CASA that brought creative artists into our school to recreate

stories with our students! At the end of their sessions with their teaching

artists, they performed their rendition of a story complete with a new song

of their design! They were fun and entertaining performances that we all

enjoyed!

Councilman Koo has also been instrumental in helping to get our air condi-

tioning units and for much of our new technology (lap tops, ipads, smart-

boards). We are forever thankful, because with his support we are able to

better support and teach our students—your children– in helping to make

them successful learners. The next time you see Councilman Koo — give

him a big thank you from PS 24! By the way, did you know Councilman
