ORIGIN:Hamilton Smith came into this world a patriot, which is especially noteworthy considering that life

wasnt always kind to African Americans born in 1924. Smith, as everyone but his mother called him, always

had faith in America. His unwavering conviction was that if America remained the land of the free and the

home of the brave, the brave would eventually have no choice but to take up the cause of those Americans

who werent truly free. Smith believed in Americas ideals, even if America herself hadnt ac tually caught up

with them. Thats why he volunteered for the army when America entered the Second World War. Like so

many young black soldiers, he wanted to be part of the Double V Campaign, helping to achieve democracy

abroad and equality at home. Smith proved to be a brilliant tactician and was quickly promoted to Sergeant.

He was assigned a squad of highly skilled irregulars, and Squad Smith (as they were called) quickly became

the most effective group of its kind operating in the European theater. In what would be their last mission,

Squad Smith discovered a secret facility in which the Nazis had been conducting experiments, trying tocreate the ultimate soldier. The squad managed to destroy the facility, but not before Smith had taken a

bullet meant for one of his men. Not knowing what else to do, Smiths men injected him with a massive dose

of the serum theyd stolen from the lab. The serum put Smith into a coma, and for his service, the

government kept him alive for the decades it took the serum to do its work. It kept him young, healed his

injuries, and turned him into the hero, Citizen Soldier. It will very much surprise Smith when he finally

learns who it was that insisted he be kept alive all these years.

Armor:This is your passive defense against all physical attacks. Unlike most traits, armor does not suffer a

cumulative -2d penalty when used multiple times on the same page.

Athletics:Agility and acrobatics; used for attacking with ranged weapons and for defense.

Command:This is your ability to get others to do what you want.

Leadership:As a tactical genius, you can grant any fellow hero a free reroll as long as you can see and

communicate with them. You can do this up to 3 times per issue.

Medical:This trait covers everything from basic first aid to neurosurgery.

Might:Your physical strength; its used when attacking with melee weapons or your bare hands and when

throwing heavy objects (use Athletics when throwing light objects); its also used when grappling . You can

lift up to 50 tons.

Perception:Your physical senses, empathy, intuition, and general level of awareness.

Professional:Reflects what you know as a result of your career or profession.

Relentless: Normal folks suffer a -1d penalty to all trait rolls after losing half their total Health. You,

however, are extremely tough and can thus ignore this rule.

Riding:Combines riding, caring for animals, and mounted combat.

Science:Your knowledge of all scientific topics.

Stealth:Your ability to do things like hide, move quietly, and follow people surreptitiously.

Streetwise:Your knowledge of the criminal underworld and your ability to interact with it.

Survival:Wilderness survival in all environments.

Technology:The use, repair, and even creation of mechanical and technological items.

Thievery:This trait concerns intrusion and theft.

Toughness: Your physical resilience; used as your passive defense against physical attacks and to resist

agents like diseases, drugs, and poisons.

Vehicles:Your ability to operate land vehicles. At 3d, you can operate military land vehicles.

Willpower:Your spirit; used as your passive defense against mental attacks and powers.
