1 Dear Members, Wid- ows and Spouses, I hope you are all do- ing well this time of year. Thankfulness is in the air and before we start with our monthly Thank yous I would like each one of you to know a few things I’m thankful for. First our Heavenly Father and all his many blessings. My beautiful family and all their love and support. My jobs and all though sometimes hard work, the re- ward of being able to have one. I am thankful for each and every member. The ones that come on a daily basis to participate in day to day things, the ones that come for a few activities a year, or just simply the ones that pay their dues because someday they may want to stop by or just stay a member of the Best People on Earth - BPOE. I am thankful for the values our order instills in each one of us and the oppor- tunities and fulfillment our charities bring to each one of our lives. I am thankful for the kind words, friendships and love I see in our Lodge. And, I am very thankful for our amazing Ladies of Elks organization and our amazing Vet- erans auxiliary. All of you make our lodge a great place in one way or an- other. I would like to thank my Thursday night dinner volunteers for all your hard work and dedication. A big thanks to Sandy, our fun committee chairman, for anoth- er fun successful paint night and all her behind the scenes help for other activi- ties. Thank you to all the Elks and spouses who came out to help with our Lodge Hoop Shoot. Thank you to all the members, Troop 51, scholarship families and extras for all your hard work on our homeless/community din- ner. It was a great success. We fed 500 again this year. Thanks to Toni Hopes. You’re the best kitchen partner. THANK YOU to Ladies of Elks for an awesome kid’s Christmas party, It was well at- tended and a great success. A big thanks to all the many volunteers that made our veterans dinner a great suc- cess. Thanks to Toni Hopes and Thane Diamond for running a very successful pool tournament for Christmas Charity. Please come down on Christmas Eve for some great food and friendship. I would like to announce that our Loyal Knight chair is currently vacant. If you are interested or know someone who may be please contact me. Sometime in January we will be having a lodge clean up and organize day. I will post a date as soon as I have one. If you and your family would like to help we need you. Please remember we have Friday night dinner most Fridays and we need members support to keep it going. We have 71 kids on the list this year for Christmas Charity. If you haven’t made your annual donation for this to the Lodge, we really need it. Also we may be able to take more families with more donations. If you know a family in need, contact me directly at 801-358-0993. This year’s New Year’s Eve is sure to be a great party. We have Fire Hawk back and our Prime Rib and Crab Legs or Shrimp or some of both dinner. We will also be having our traditional party favors, Champagne and late night snacks. If you would like to sign up for dinner call the lodge and prepay so you’re on the reservation list. The cost this year is $35. We will also be doing a drawing this year and will be selling tickets in the bar. We have a riffle gun safe, and a $200 Sundance gift card. Tickets for these are $2 each or 6 for $10. All other prizes will be 6 for $5. I really hope this will be a great suc- cess and it’s sure to be a great time. Money from the raffle will go to replen- ish Christmas Charity for next year. We are always in need of volunteers for different events in the lodge if you or your family is interested please contact me. Bingo is still struggling to draw a crowd if you like to play please bring extra friends and come. Our proceeds from this all go to fund different charities within our lodge and without participa- tion we can’t raise funds for our chari- ties. In the past several years our bingo committee and players have funded $ directly to our lodge charities. Please help to continue this and participate. I hope you all have a very Merry Christ- mas and a Happy New Year!! Please enjoy the holidays with family and friend and stay warm and healthy. With Love, Your Exalted Ruler, Brenda Shaw. Hello to the Elks and Ladies, December, the last of the year. Where has the time gone? What wonderful weather we had through the autumn, I hope that means a mild winter and snow for Christmas. November’s meeting was a nice group and Ada did a fabulous job with the soups and salads. A lot of work for just one lady. A festive autumn and candy corn atmosphere. Thank you to all the ladies for the donations of toiletries. After meeting we had enough to make 100 care packages to donate to the Elks Community Dinner. Keep saving them, we would like to do more after the first of the year. Officers: Our next Board meeting will be Wednesday Dec. 6, 6:00pm & Ladies of Elks meeting will be held on Wednesday Dec. 13
Social time at 6:00 Dinner at 6:30 and Business meeting at 7:00. This month will be a short meeting and then our Christmas party. For the gift exchange, we will be playing five of my favorite things. Here is how it works. Each lady will choose something you consider to be your favorite thing. Bring five of those, wrapped. By the end of the night, each lady will go home with 5 favorites. There are some more fun things planned so this will be a month you won’t want to miss. Last month’s LOE Mystery Dinner and who-dun-it show was a hit. We served approx. 70 people and there have been many great comments on the food and the show. At the time I am writing this letter, the Children’s Christmas party has not yet been held. I am sure there was a great turn out and all had a great time. Thank you, Danielle Kelsey, for chairing the event. It is always so much fun to see the little ones on Santa’s lap asking for their wish list.
We would like to get some participation from the ladies to support the Elks Memorial Service on Sunday December 3. It is al-ways a beautiful service. All of your donations have created a wonderful large raffle basket full of goodies. Chantel will have the tickets at the December meeting. I hope it will bring in some great monies for our charities. Project chairman Chantel Green is still running some fun games/charities: Keep bringing your change down for the Penny WARS. We are still in the lead! Let’s also support the Elks and have some fun at Bingo, and Thursday and Friday night dinners.
Stay Positive, Work Hard, and Make It Happen. Watch my letter here in the 849r for events and other news throughout the coming year. Enjoy the holiday with your families and I hope Santa brings you what you wish for! For the good of our lodge, the recipients of our service, and our ladies, let’s have a great year.
