Proverbs 30:21 For three things the earth is disquieted,

and for four which it cannot bear:

Four sorts of persons are very troublesome. Men of

low origin and base spirit, who, getting authority,

become tyrants. Foolish and violent men indulging

in excesses. A woman of a contentious spirit and

vicious habits. A servant who has obtained undue

influence. Let those whom Providence has

advanced from low beginnings, carefully watch

against that sin which most easily besets them. Matthew Henry Concise Bible Commentary.

22 For a servant when he reigneth; and a fool when

he is filled with meat;

A servant does not have the training to be a king.

If a servant were to rise suddenly to power, he

might likely be a harsh ruler.

By definition a fool is wicked and stupid.

In his heart, he believes there is no God.

He’s got what he wants, and will not care for

the needs of others.

Warnings of traps we could fall into.

A servant who suddenly finds himself

promoted above his real ability is in trouble

and will cause trouble.

Be content at your natural top rank.

23 For an odious woman when she is married; …

Proverbs 21 9 It is better to dwell in a corner of the

housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide

house.

There is nothing worse than a bitter and

hateful woman who finally gets married.

Her husband and children will suffer.

Does she have to be such a wife? Choices!

23b and an handmaid that is heir to her mistress.

Like the servant, she is not prepared to run a

household.

She will expect special privileges.

We must each expect to pull our weight and more.

24 There be four things which are little upon the

earth, but they are exceeding wise: 25 The ants are a

people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the

summer; 26 The conies are but a feeble folk, yet

make they their houses in the rocks; 27 The locusts

have no king, yet go they forth all of them by

bands; 28 The spider taketh hold with her hands,

and is in kings' palaces.

God gifted each one with needed abilities.

25 The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare

their meat in the summer;

Ants survive because of their foresight.

I know it’s instinct and not reasoning, but they

do put up food during the summer.

Proverbs 10 5 He that gathereth in summer is a wise

son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that

causeth shame.

Do whatever you can do at the time.

People need to plan ahead and work hard.

If we don’t, difficulties will be far more difficult.

10

Excuses won’t help when trouble comes.

“I was going to cut the grass,

but it looked like rain.”

Did it rain?

No, but it was cloudy.

Don’t waste God’s Provision.

Spot waste and

cut it out.

Even a few $

per payday.

Look

ahead

for

future

needs.

Don’t waste opportunities:

To learn

To care for your family

To be a part of your church

To earn
