Dear Parents, A warm welcome to what is promising even at this early stage to be a very exciting and stimulating year. What a good start we have had to the 2017 school year. The children and staff have returned with renewed energy, ready to resume old friendships, be introduced to new ones and keen to continue their journey through school and life at Prouille Catholic School. Our School Commencement Mass to officially launch the 2017 Educational Year will be held on Friday 17th February at 11.00am in the Holy Name Church. Our new school leaders for 2017 will also be presented with their badges at this mass. Everybody is welcome to join us on this special occasion. Being a parent is a hard job, a complicated job and sometimes a lonely job. Probably, it’s the most important job parents will ever have, because as their child’s first teacher, they will make a difference. However, parents have the opportunity to form a viable partnership with their child’s teacher, because together they have a common goal: a successful school year for each child. It’s important to remember that parents and teachers are partners in helping each child achieve a successful transition to adulthood. This combined support is essential if the transition is to be a positive developmental experience for your child. A good relationship with your child’s teacher provides an opportunity for you to stay informed about your child’s progress across all areas of schooling and to work together if problems arise during the year. At Prouille we value and encourage this highly valued partnership that assists your child succeed at school. Welcome to the 2017 School Year which I hope will be a rewarding year for everyone in our school community. God, our Father, bless us, so that Your Spirit within us will give us a common bond as together we take responsibility for the well-being of Your gift of creation to us. We ask for strength and determination to create more space in our lives for You, so that by the example of our lives, our children will be inspired to follow Your ways. A Parent/Teacher Information Evening will be held on Wednesday 15th February. The presentation by the class teachers is designed to:

give parents some insights into the work being covered

hear the teacher’s expectations for that particular class

gain other useful information to assist you with practical details of school life.

Each session will last 30 minutes. They will be held in the classrooms. If you have sessions that clash, please go to the teacher of the elder child. It is important that at least one parent attend the Information Evening.

First session is from 6.00-6.30pm and the second session is from 6.40-7.10pm.

FROM THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL Thank you Thank you to all of the families who have welcomed me into this wonderful community. When walking around the playground on the first day I was greeted by the students who were friendly and polite. They are a credit to you! Thank you also to the wonderful parents, who have introduced themselves, taught me a few new Prouille concepts or routines or have simply been patient and shown kindness. I am very much looking forward to working with and getting to know you all in the up and coming months.

Learning and Teaching

Learning and teaching is in full swing throughout K-6. In the up and coming weeks I will showcase different forms of learning that is happening in classrooms or stage groups. Watch this space! Currently teachers are spending time learning about the students through observation, work samples and testing so that programs are written that identify with each individual students learning needs. Please, if you have a questions do not hesitate to make an appointment with your child’s teacher.

God Bless
