Now, more than ever, there is an urgent need to

revive spirituality in business, as in all aspects of

life. It is sometimes thought that spirituality is

incompatible with profit making. Business devoid

of spirituality breeds greed and exploitation, both

significant in any financial crisis. If we want to

reinstate trust and sustain it as well, we cannot

compromise on human values. Although these

values are innate in every human being, they have

been overshadowed by the stresses and strains of

everyday life.

Management begins with the mind- a mind that is

properly managed can manage anything. Just

taking a few minutes every day to reflect and to

practice spiritual techniques such as Yoga,

Meditation and simple breathing exercises can

eliminate stress, increase energy levels, and

improve mental clarity and creativity. This greatly

strengthens one's intuition and expression. It

gives the much needed patience and vision to any

leader.

The need of the hour is for a system of education

where the roots are deep and there are fresh

shoots on the tree- a combination of the newness

and the ancientness.

– His Holiness Sri Sri Ravishankar

raduate with a degree in management from SSU - FMS in 2015 and realize that youhave something extra to move into a business career.”

An MBA is arguably the most widely recognized academic brand in the world. The SSU – FMSMBA will evolve you, the way “Art of Living' has evolved individuals all over the world.Bolstered by this “Art of Living” magic, it is slated to become one of the fastest-growingbusiness education degree brands in the global market place.

The value of teaching business to students before they enter the workplace will be cementedby the values propounded by His Holiness Sri Sri Ravishankar. The choice of pre-MBAeducation can be a bachelor degree in business, economics, social sciences, arts, puresciences, languages, philosophy, physics, engineering, biotechnology or agriculture to bringin real diversity to classroom.

The General Management Program has a broad-brush approach to business and SSUspecialized MBA in Agri-business or Entrepreneurship is highly focused without diluting theflavour of MBA. There are big differences between the content and teaching styles of thesetwo types of programs. The General MBA teaches more functional and technical skillsalongside “big picture” MBA topics such as strategy and leadership. Specialized MBAstudents will be more subject specific than General MBAs and will be quicker to grasp someof the issues of the subject of their choice. That said, specialized programs will adopt many ofthe facets of the General MBA degree, such as strategy and leadership; accounting andmarketing; IT and ethics.

SSU createsa compelling growth situation for the students; to think regional while beingglobal. Student's need to understand the regional and the global all in same breath andmaster this actively by influencing practice here and now.

Coaching and mentoring will be a growing part of specialized programs and it is contineouscoaching that helps develop new business ideas. One of the most influential parts of anyMBA course at SSU-FMS is getting advice from executives in the industry, as entire AOL

community brimming with industry chieftains and high priests ofbusiness world, is ready to better the world around them with suchgifts of wisdom.

SSU's Vice Chancellor's primary interest is in Business Management. In fact, some might say that he is a lifetime devotee of the discipline. His ideas have heavily influenced managerial theory and practice –and business education itself. He was frontal in institutions ofnational and international repute. Devoting his time to discussing aseemingly unending variety of issues, he continually addresses therelationship between ideas and practice and how experience iscrucial for learning.

SSU has the most representative of the pragmatists as its Board ofGovernors and Advisors. They understand that ideas becomemeaningful when put into action. Action is what counts. It has animpact. It transforms things for the better. It solves problems.

In the interplay between action and thinking lies room forimprovement. Our continuously learning faculty at SSU-FMS providethis. Faculty members will create excellent managerial examples byconceptualizing all the implications of a situation, dealing withpuzzling data and linking them into actions. The interrelationbetween thought and action is distilled into strategizing, planning, executing, assessing and correcting by SSU - FMS faculty members.

In a business school, there is little room for abstract thought. Ideascan be turned into models. Models help analyze reality and solveproblems. These models are not universal, they are a product of pastlearning. SSU – FMS faculty members see models as valid only to theextent that they link experience and reflection of current positioning

and strategy in business. The faculty perceives them as frameworksto be respected as long as they have a use.

Over the past three decades, companies have changed their habits. They focus more on the use of organizational learning, emergingstrategies and innovation to cope with change. These are all goodexamples of the prevalence of experience as a test for ideas. Thisemphasizes the vital importance of learning at all levels. Individuals, groups and organizations are transforming while learning. Mostorganizations have recognized the importance of learning the “Art ofLiving” for sustainability of their efforts in these eventful threedecades.

Education here at SSU is linked to the interests and motivation ofstudents. Nowhere have these ideas been more purely applied than inmanagement education. True Business Schools stand out for theirdevelopment of teaching that acknowledges the interests and needsof participants. MBA and executive education differ widely in theways they address curricular knowledge. They differ in the role thatskill development should play. They have to calibrate how much pastindividual experience is required for a given curricular diversity.

This is all familiar to the “Art of Living” world. The term “experientiallearning” has well established origin. It is now forming the backboneof management education. The root of much of what we know grewfrom a seed planted in Indian Gurukul system. In a Gurukul the studentexperiences life in the hermitage of Guru where all aspects of thestudents development are addressed & carefully nurtured – physical, mental, emotional, intellectual and spiritual. Overall SSU is rooted inthe ideals of Art of Living to recreate Indian Gurukul system as an elixirof modern higher education.

The term agribusiness refers to various businesses those involved infood production, including farming, seed supply, agrichemicals, farmmachinery, wholesale, distribution, processing, marketing and retailsales. Agribusiness Industry works on various levels primarily fromgrowing of crops, vegetables, seeds, animal production, livestockproduction, aquaculture, fishery, herbal and flower products etc. Thesecond level of agribusiness is processing of crops, seeds, herbs, meat, milk and other agri and allied processed foods. The third levelon which this Industry operates is packaging and branding of theseproducts using latest technology and selling/serving to the finalconsumers. Agriculture has now been playing a vital role in theeconomic growth of developing countries including the growingindustrialization and its importance has increased agri-products in theseveral-folds. In India a major portion of our country GDP comes fromagriculture sector which also employ 65 percent of the Indianpopulation (especially rural women) employing over 600 millionpeople (more than Europe’s population), in various roles as farmers, marginal farmers, land less farmers and labourers. Moreover, now,the food and food-products import-export policies also playimportant role in the overall development of any country and theworld as a whole.

Indian model of green revolution contributed to the agriculturesector that entered into a huge transitional phase with historicallyrapid growth trend after 2002. While strong technology base R&Dwas central, the collective work of the scientists, extensionfunctionaries, policy makers, the political system and above all thefarmers is the core. This was a team effort spearheaded by Mr. C.Subramanian, Mr. Norman Borlaug, Mr. B. P. Pal and Dr. M.S.

Swaminathan. ‘Operation Flood’ by the National Dairy DevelopmentBoard in 1970 under the Chairmanship of Dr. Varghese Kurien hastransformed India into the largest producer of milk and contributedsignificantly to the country’s growth trajectory. Government of India,State Government, various Agriculture Institutions, Banks andAgribusiness organizations are also seriously replication suchmethods and encouraging the sector towards shifting agricultureinto a market oriented and viable business venture.

Developing countries have less resource to invest in long-termadaptive capacity of farmers such as public awareness, liquid financialmarkets and well-built institutional network to increase resilience toclimate change and help mitigate critical temperature thresholds andweather extremes. Further, land resources are shrinking, area underagriculture is reducing sharply, water resources are depleting andpolluting at a fast pace. Thus in a globally competitive world, bringinginto forefront the critical thinking, insightfulness and creativesolution are important for addressing the challenges of our times andcompetitive advantage.

Agribusiness must be a means to improve the wellbeing of themarginal farmers, landless labourers and women through valueaddition, creation of competitive agribusiness enterprises, technology innovation, commercialization and inventing localsolution as “fit for all size”. The Founder and Chairperson of MSSwaminathan Research Foundation, Padma Shri (Dr.) M. S.Swaminathan is the board of advisors of Sri Sri University. Dr.Swaminathan perceives that educated young people will take tofarming and farm related enterprises only if agriculture becomesintellectually stimulating and economically rewarding by means of

partnership with private players and entrepreneur.

Keeping this view in backdrop, MBA Program in Agri-BusinessManagement (ABM) of Sri Sri University becomes a timely initiative. The course curriculum of ABM is designed to give students an in-depth mastery of the academic disciplines and applied functionalareas necessary to every agri-business leader’s success. Entrepreneurship ranges in scale from singleprojects to major undertakings creating many jobopportunities. Many "high value" entrepreneurialventures seek venture capital or seed money inorder to raise capital to build the business. Manykinds of organizations now exist to support would-b e e n t r e p r e n e u r s i n c l u d i n g s p e c i a l i z e dgovernment agencies, business incubators, scienceparks, and various NGOs. The people and the planet have suffered due to lack of human valuesshowcased by the leaders and managers. There is a shift happening in theskill sets required by leaders and managers. These skill sets require leadersto have basic human values such as belongingness, love, compassion andtrust along with the domain knowledge and soft skills such ascommunication skills, etc. At Sri Sri University we are taught and gave anopportunity to excel and showcase the entire package of skill setsrequired by future and present leaders and managers. The value of thispackage of skill sets i.e human values + domain knowledge + soft skills will

be huge in the future and SSU is truly differentiating itself from the other universities byproviding these. The value system in any organization flows from top to down. With H.H. Sri SriRavishankar there is no doubt about the values on which this university is being built on.

SSU is Guruji's vision for creation of global leaders and I am proud to be apart of His mission. My learning started from the very first day when Ientered the University gate. Acceptance is one of the keys to success andhere I experience it at every step. The students at SSU come not only fromdiverse backgrounds but also from different cultures. In all we are from 17different states which gives us an opportunity to learn and grow more.Learn, Lead & Serve – the motto of SSU is my biggest strength andmotivating factor which brought me here.

Divya Verma, Email ID: [email protected]

The fact that SSU is Guruji's university and He has a broad vision about theuniversity is the prime reason why I am here. Here in SSU one can actuallyexperience the motto of our university – LEARN, LEAD and SERVE. Thecombination of Spirituality and Management education is what makesSSU different from all other universities.

Chandni Gaba, Email ID: [email protected]

My experience as SSU has been just mesmerizing. The place is full ofnatural beauty which refreshes both mind and soul. We are given aexposure to best of technical as well as Art of Living courses which providea great boost to our personality. That's SRI SRI UNIVERSITY! “The function of theuniversity is not simply to teach bread earning, or to furnish graduate tobusiness, above all, to be the organ of that fine adjustment between lifeand the growing knowledge of life, an adjustment which forms the secretof a good human being.”

If you want to grow in Divine Love, you have to drop the pride and all the artificial walls that we buildbetween ourselves and others. Through these walls, we keep judging others, and we think others are judging us. – SRI SRI

44

The name Sri Sri Ravishankar has unprecedented importance in lives ofmany irrespective of their social, religious & economic standing and isrecognized all over the world for His VISION, GRACE and SERVICE tomankind. So when a person of this stature envisaged to build a Mecca ofEducation “Sri Sri University”was born. When I, as a student tried toanalyze and associate myself with this university there are three thingswhich I think this university will teach Real Knowledge- Right Attitude-Immense Spirit and Gratitude. These are most vital knowledge parameterthat an educational institution should impart to students. As in an

increasing competitive world we are groomed either to be the beast or the best, there exists athin line between these two terms in our real world and what SSU teaches you is excellence atpar, imagination beyond boundaries, skills with required knowledge and its practicalimplementation, creativity with fun, ethics with attitude and spiritualism with right spirit whichprepares a Student to be the BEST IN THE WORLD and NOT THE BEAST. So when I was given anoption to choose between the better and the best I chose the best. What will you choose??
