This year our prospectus is absolutely packed with information about programmes that offer opportunities for people of all ages to take the next step in their careers whether it is on to another programme, university or employment. We no longer talk specifically about courses and qualifications because at North Lindsey College we deliver much more than that. Our programmes include skills to help our learners grow and develop themselves both personally and academically, as well as gaining essential employability skills so essential for the future.

At North Lindsey College we are continuously improving our facilities in order to maintain an exceptional learning environment. Over the past two years we have made a significant investment across the campus, including the refurbishment of existing facilities and our new Engineering Technology Centre which was completed in June 2015. The investment so far has also seen state-of-the-art hairdressing and beauty therapy salons together with new facilities for sports and our Fitness Centre. With the growth of the digital and creative sectors locally we now have a suite of rooms equipped with the latest technology. Across the College students will also benefit from installation of the latest technology allowing free Wi-Fi campus wide. Workshops and classrooms have also been upgraded and integrated with investment in mobile technologies for both staff and students.

Our Ofsted report, published in June 2014 commended the College on our outstanding success rates for 16 year olds and our outstanding leadership and management which has driven improved performance across the College. Ofsted commented on the strength of our teaching staff with strong industry experience and our very strong partnerships that help students develop good employability skills as well as our exemplary pastoral support. We are also exceptionally proud of our University Centre which now has a thriving community of nearly 1,000 learners and a wide range of higher education opportunities up to honours degree level. The results of the National Students Survey also confirmed just how much our students value their experience at North Lindsey, placing the College in the top 10 higher education providers nationally.

North Lindsey College has been significant to the lives of so many individuals and central to the employers and other organisations we work with. Together we have made a difference and we continue to work in partnership to enable and inspire individuals, employers and communities to develop their skills, unlock potential and realise their ambitions.

I am sure you will find something for you in our prospectus.

The largest provider of apprenticeships in North Lincolnshire is North Lindsey College. The College offers Traineeships and Intermediate, Advanced and Higher Apprenticeships.

A Traineeship helps prepare you for a job or an Apprenticeship. It is normally for between 10 to 26 weeks and includes employability skills, work experience and if needed, help with English and Maths. You are also guaranteed an interview at the end of the Traineeship to help you prepare for work. The College will help you find a Traineeship and we will work with employers to find a placement that suits your future work interests. Having work experience on your CV can really help you when you are trying to get a job or an Apprenticeship.

An Apprenticeship is a job with training – a chance to earn while you learn. You are employed in a job and you work towards qualifications as well. The College can help find you an employer and our current vacancies are on the National Apprenticeship Service website. www.findapprenticeship.service.gov.uk/apprenticeshipsearch

Employers take on apprentices throughout the year so new opportunities come up every week. All apprentices have to work for a minimum of 30 hours a week including any time at College.

For some apprenticeships you may come into College for about one day a week but for other apprenticeships there is no college attendance. For example, in engineering you would come to College to work towards an engineering qualification where you need to have classroom and workshop training and support from College staff. For an apprenticeship such as business administration or customer service there is no College attendance as all your work is done with the support of an assessor in the workplace.

An Apprenticeship is like any other job – a vacancy is advertised, you apply and then the employer will decide whether you are suitable for the job. The College can also provide support such as interview skills training and help making sure your CV is up to date.

Take a look at the types of apprenticeships we offer. We regularly add new apprenticeship frameworks so if you don’t see what you are looking for then just ask. For further information about Traineeships and Apprenticeships please contact [email protected] or call 01724 295363.
