ROAD TO SUCCESS Submitted By: Ms.Coffman Mission Statement: Increasing successful offender transition into the community by providing quality programming and services. The Road to Success program is in place to help inmates with six months or less to prepare for their release. It consists of five classes: 1) Employment, 2) Working Effectively with your Parole Officer, 3) Your Family and Your Release, 4) Money Management 5) Tenant Education. When you sign up for the “Road To Success” classes, you may take advantage of any of the classes that will help you upon re-entry. This curriculum will work in conjunction with the inmate’s current programs and additional courses they may already be enrolled in. Inmates will also have the opportunity to work one-on-one with transition staff to set up an individual transition plan for release. We work on such issues as tenant education, medical resources, employment, community, etc. If you participate in all five classes you can request to move to Unit 5. You’ll automatically be scheduled for a RTOS assessment when you are six months or less from your release date.

Letters Of Incarceration If you are in need of a letter of

incarceration for any reason, you must now KYTE records. The Transition Coordinator will not handle these requests anymore.

Credit Reports And Project Clean Slate At this time the Credit check and Project

MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR From: Colette S. Peters, Director & Kim Brockamp, Deputy Director SUMMER SAFETY___________

Summer is here and with it comes the potential for more time outdoors, more activities, and more visits from friends and loved ones.

We encourage families to play an active role in your lives during incarceration. Family support is important. When you remain connected, you will be better prepared and motivated to return home and make positive changes. It is also our responsibility to ensure your safety, as well as the safety of our staff, communities, and facility visitors.

We are tirelessly committed to security at each of our facilities. It is for security reasons that visitors are not allowed to bring any personal items, gifts, illegal contraband, weapons, or cell phones into the facility. Attempting to pass any unapproved items through security, even if accidentally, is prohibited and will result in immediate consequences. It may also result in indefinite suspension of visiting privileges for you and your visitor.

Another illegal activity worthy of mentioning, given recent incidents in Oregon and across the country, is escaping. We know most of you understand the importance of (4)

serving your time entirely. We also know some of you may be tempted to leave before being released. Please remember, if you make this poor decision, you will most certainly receive additional convictions. This will add more time to your sentence. The last five individuals who escaped averaged 17 months of additional time.

While we understand some of these rules may be difficult for you and your visitors, it is our responsibility to keep you, our staff, and visitors safe. These strict safety procedures are very important and are just one of the many ways we maintain a safe and secure environment.

Please safely enjoy the extra opportunities that the summer brings.
