y Edge detection is the process of detecting the edges of the
image.
y Image segmentation is the process of partitioning animage into homogenous regions.
y Edge detection algorithms are then applied on theseimages so as to get the boundary of different textures.

For non-textured image boundary can be detected bysmoothing and then directly applying edge detectionalgorithm .
