Timeline

• September 2012 – Kenya team formed• August 2013 – Pre-assessment trip, decided

on Muchebe Primary School for project• January 2014 – Assessment trip, gather data

for design, survey community members• August 2014 – Implementation trip• August 2015 – Assessment trip • August 2016 – Implementation trip

• 2,000 people in village• One school - Muchebe Primary School• Water sources:

– Rebohocha River (typhoid)– Nymatembe River (amoeba disease)– Hibwa River (E. Coli and typhoid)– Muchebe Rainwater Catchment System

• Additional 50,000 L of storage space• Collecting from 100% of roof area• Total of 70,000 L of water 2L/student/day

• Rock in the way of original tank cluster design• 4 tanks instead of 5, but connected smaller tanks too• Still collecting water from 100% of the roof area• 67,000 L capacity for water storage

• Assessment Trip, August 2015• To prepare for our next trip, our team this

year will:– Monitor data from 2013-2014 system. Outline

different design concepts for next project in Muchebe

– Reach out to Muchebe village/school. Brainstorm and prepare sustainability lessons. Educate EWB team on Kenyan history, diseases, etc.
