Biomass Charcoal Briquette Project Name: Biomass Charcoal Briquette Project Location: Kampong Cham province, Cambodia Biomass Charcoal Briquette project aims to convert biomass waste into charcoal briquette, thereby substituting wood charcoal as well as economizing biomass waste such as, corn cob, bamboo, mimosa pigra, and others. The reduction of wood charcoal consumption will help reduce the deforestation caused by the manufacturing of wood charcoal and other wood- based fuels – currently estimated at 90,000 tons of wood charcoal and 450,000 tons of wood-based fuels per year. In addition, the Biomass Charcoal Briquette project will help create 20 full-time local jobs and effect significant reduction of greenhouse gas emission. For an initial production capacity of 3,800 tons of charcoal briquettes per year, the project is expected to help save up to 24,151 tons of CO2 per year. Solarika Pte Ltd
Project Name: Innovative Business Model for Rooftop Solar PV installationsProject Location: Asian region
Solarika proposes an innovative business model in the installation of rooftop solar power systems that is based on a franchising concept. We aim to partner with and empower local installers to deliver high quality and reliable installations to the end-users at lowest possible costs. Local installers, typically neighbourhood electrical contractors, join the system as franchisees or network partners at a small fee. We provide the necessary training and business tools to the network partners that helps them kick-start their solar installation business and generate and close sales opportunities more effectively. The franchisees benefit from our volume purchases, financing options and branding and marketing support that drive overall efficiencies resulting in high quality and low costs at the same time. The end-users benefit ultimately from this value proposition and hence this will accelerate adoption of rooftop solar energy, which is a win-win situation for all stakeholders.

The SOLshare business model targets households and small businesses in densely populated off-grid villages. These communities need a flexible, stable, and sufficient electricity supply for lighting, phone charging, entertainment and business generating activities, at an affordable price. The key feature of our solution is an innovative charge controller for Solar Home Systems (SHS), which enables and manages interconnection between multiple users, facilitates electricity trade, and provides a compatible interface for the eventual addition of a national grid connection. As it expands, the SOLshare model increases network stability while optimizing the usage of existing solar PV systems. It also allows low income homes without their own generating capacity to be integrated into the SOLshare microgrid network in order to gain access to electricity.
