What is Catch the Light?

Goal 4: Quality Education

Catch the Light is aimed at improving

the education quality in Daliang mountain, where the children are living in a bad situation without the caring of their parents. Xiuqixinyi School is built by the NGO “Bring love to Daliang mountain”. Here, we will work with them and bring a brighter future to local children. Target :4.7

By 2030, ensure that all learners acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development, including, among others, through education for sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles, human rights, gender equality, promotion of a culture of peace and non-violence, global citizenship and appreciation of cultural diversity and of culture’s contribution to sustainable development.

Daliang mountain-- where the dream begins

Daliang mountain is located in the "land of abundance”——Sichuan province

The school was built at an altitude of 2400 meters of the plateau，which is close to the sky

There is no pollution, here far away from the hustle and bustle city

Natural Beauty of

Liangshan is the yi ethnic minority’s homeland

The Yi nation has lived in

Daliang mountain for thousands of years, creating mystrious and unique Yi culture, leaving a great amount of culture heritage.

The Torch Festival The Torch Festival is the most

important festival of Yi people, which is celebrated on the 24th or 25th day of the six month of Yi calendar.

A great Bonfire Party will be held where people dance and sing all night. It is also an opportunity for young men and women to meet their prospective spouses.

• Daliang mountain is the place of Chinese final elimination of slavery.

• Here，many families have given birth to many children, more than they can afford to raise and educate.

However, poverty has turned heaven into hell.

Most of the children here are orphans, whose lives are threatened by hunger, disease and serious gender discrimination. There is no bright future for them because of lack quality education. Most of them drop out school before they finish their primary education. And the some girls are forced into marriage.

How to Catch the Light?

Last year, a group of people from the NGO “Bring love to Daliang Mountain” build the Xiuqixinyi School for these angels.

This summer, there will be 100+volunteers from all over China 1000+children of Daliang Mountain

And we will be one of them We will join them And save the angels together!

1. Receive a short teaching training and design guidance from local partner education

center. 2. Run the project in rural schools in the form of summer camp.

3. Make a summary of the camp, and deliver our knowledge to local teachers in the

form of guidance booklet and so on. 4. Visit local families to learn more about the local social problems.

5. Show the children here the culture of your country to help them understand more

about the outside world.

We aim to Light up the future of 100 rural children. Open them a window to the outside world. Lead them to a better lifestyle and a better future career.
