Plastics (GNSP)
B)Possibilities of new project
proposals within the GNSP
Page 3
*National Information Points of PLASTiCE EC
*The European Commission through the Central Europe programme
and specifically through the PLASTICE project has supported
establishing conditions for a widespread use of sustainable types of
plastics, particularly biodegradable plastics and plastics based on
renewable resources. Thus, National Info Points have been set up
in the countries directly participating in the project (Slovenia,
Italy, Poland, Slovakia) with the main goal to disseminate the
knowledge and obtained results of the project initiatives and
create a basis for further development of international cooperation
in this field.
Page 4
*As the issue of sustainable plastics is one of the important issues
worldwide, it was agreed to extend the National Information Point
Network, which originated within the PLASTiCE project to the
global level.
*Consequently, the Global Network on Sustainable Plastics has
been established in which the National Focal Points play a crucial
role. National Focal Points are organized in countries worldwide
based at recognized institutions and with experts in the field in
each country.
*Each National Focal Point is responsible for setting up of a
National Info Point thus providing an easy access to new
information on sustainable plastics for research institutions,
industry and general public.
Page 5
a) Dissemination of the results of the PLASTICE project:
- in the participant countries – setting up of National Info Points NIP on Sustainable Plastics (Slovenia, Poland, Italy, Slovakia) (i.e. through NIP to all experts and institutions, organizations etc. which might be interested in this information)
- Dissemination in other countries (Europe, Arab and Gulf countries, Asia, Africa, Latin America) through setting-up of national focal points (NFP).
b) NFP – recognized expert (head of NFP) and the leading institution in the country (national network of institutions and experts coordinated by
c) Creation of Global Network on Sustainable Plastics
Based on NFP in various countries
d) Further promotion of follow-up activities, follow-up, new initiatives based on the PLASTiCE experience

Page 12
Topics to be accomodated with project calls initiatives:
I) – HORIZON 2020 calls
II) – Other schemes
• The project should involve selected members of the Plastice/GNSP
consortium and new members with high expertise
*Topic should be related to “sustainable plastics”
• *The project should allow us to do some research

Specific challenge: The specific challenge is to address networking gaps and
deficiencies between the research institutions of the low performing Member States and
regions and internationally-leading counterparts at EU level
Scope: Twinning aims at significantly strengthening a defined field of research in a
particular knowledge institution (a research active university or a public research
organisation or a private non-profit research organisation) by creating a link between
this institution and at least two internationally-leading research institutions in other
Member States. Twinning will:
Enhance the S&T capacity of the linked institutions;
Help raise staff’s research profile as well as the one of the institutions involved.

European Joint Doctorates (EJD) EJDs have the objective of promoting international, intersectoral and multi/inter-disciplinary
collaboration in doctoral-level training in Europe through the creation of joint
doctoral programmes, leading to the delivery of joint, double or multiple doctoral degrees (*).
They are composed of at least three beneficiaries established in different Member States
or Associated Countries that are entitled to deliver doctoral degrees.
Above this minimum, the participation of any other organisation
from the same or other countries (worldwide) is possible under
the conditions provided by the Horizon 2020 Rules for Participation
