PROJECT 9 ‐ INTEGRATED PROJECT (PLANNING, DESIGNING & MANAGING)
Why INTEGRATE?• The bringing of people of different groups into unrestricted and equal association, as in society or an organization.
• 7 disciplines in single project (ARCH, BT, BS, CM, QS, PL and ID
• ‘broad‐based’ education
PROJECT 9 ‐ INTEGRATED PROJECT (PLANNING, DESIGNING & MANAGING)
Recap….. Project 8‐ You have done site analysis holistically
‐ You are aware of community facility
‐ You are familiar with tourism activities
‐ You have done environmental analysis
‐ You have done spatial analysis
‐ You are aware of tourism‐related economic activities
‐ You have already identified the type of buildings (commercial, residential, institutional, leisure & recreational and reserved area)
‐ AND FINALLY YOU HAVE OPTED ONE MOST SUITABLE SITE TO LOCATE ‘’BATU FERINGGHI INFORMATION CENTRE” BASED ON THE 5 RECCOMENDED SITES
PROJECT 9 ‐ INTEGRATED PROJECT (PLANNING, DESIGNING & MANAGING)
PROJECT 9: PLANNING, MANAGING & DESIGNING
Penang State Tourism Development & Culture has agreed to build a Information Centre at Batu Ferringhi that provides tourist information to the visitors who tour the place or area locally They agreed to appoint your company to come out with Development Proposal of ‘’Batu Ferringhi Information Centre” They necessitate the following outputs from you:1. Detail site analysis presentation drawing.2. Design proposal of ’Batu Ferringhi Information Centre’3. A Report of Development Proposal (Cadangan Pembangunan)4. A conceptual model of the proposed design The construction of the Information Centre building should be completed within 12 calendar months.
PROJECT 9 ‐ INTEGRATED PROJECT (PLANNING, DESIGNING & MANAGING)
PROJECT 9a:Design Proposal – Batu Ferringhi Information Centre
Based on the opted site, conduct a site analysis and gather all required information (refer Site Inventory & Analysis) You are required to propose a design of Batu Ferringhi Information Centre on the selected site Design MUST have a concept Design a single‐storey information centre with a floor area not exceeding 200 square meters (you are free to choose any dimension)

Friday : 7.45 am ‐ 12.00pm; 2.45 pm ‐ 4.45 pm
You are necessary to provide a schematic design (conceptual sketches and bubble diagram) as a basis for design.
PROJECT 9a (cont.):Design Proposal – Batu Ferringhi Information Centre
You must ensure that the design consists of only 3 basic spaces: lobby (reception, sales area & waiting area), exhibition space and toilet. (But students are ALLOWED to introduce other exterior spaces like patio, verandah, terrace etc. in the design).
The presentation board should consists of :Board 1‐ Key Plan, Location Plan and Analysed Site Plan (existing condition) (Scale 1:250)‐ Site Analysis Information

Board 2 & 3i) Schematic Design (Design Concept)‐ Conceptual Sketches & Bubble Diagram
ii) Presentation Drawings‐ Proposed Site Plan (with roof plan and landscape) (Scale1:250)‐ Floor Plan (Scale1:100)‐ Front Elevation, Rear Elevation, Side Elevations (Scale 1:100)‐ Perspective Drawings: 2 Exteriors and 2 Interiors‐ 1 interior section drawing (showing lobby & exhibition space) (Scale 1:100)
PROJECT 9 ‐ INTEGRATED PROJECT (PLANNING, DESIGNING & MANAGING)
PROJECT 9a (cont.):Design Proposal – Batu Ferringhi Information Centre Board 4
i) Material Selection‐ structure, roof, roof structure, wall, ceiling, window, door, floor, sanitary, fencing etc
ii) Building ServicesOnly focus on these 2 elements:‐ fire prevention and control system (passive and active)‐ building security systems
All of these Project 9a requirements should be composed in 4 nos of A1 size presentation board
DESIGN FOR ALL 4 PRESENTATION BOARDS SHOULD BE HARMONIZED AND COORDINATED
PROJECT 9 ‐ INTEGRATED PROJECT (PLANNING, DESIGNING & MANAGING)
WHAT IS CONCEPTUAL SKETCHES?
Vision in your mind What a project may look and feel like Translating the vision into a sketch that captures whatever aspects you may wish to highlight

PROJECT 9 ‐ INTEGRATED PROJECT (PLANNING, DESIGNING & MANAGING)
WHAT IS BUBBLE DIAGRAM?
Free flowing concepts to help you start getting ideas for your design Define spaces within the base plan Later on, these spaces will be further developed to include specific rooms, circulation, and designated spaces
