God opens says the Word
Knowledge, truth and light
Is our watchword
We believe it, we proclaim it
In the Citadel of learning
My Alma Mater we hail thee
We are happier, we are wiser
We are nobler in your yard
There we know the way to our success
Hard work and prayer is the Key
Jesus reigns supreme in the City
Blessing abound on every soul
Success is sure for everyone
Jephthites will reign with Chris
Someday.
School AnthemNational Anthem
Arise, O compatriots,
Nigeria's call obey
To serve our Fatherland
With love and strength and faith.
The labour of our heroes past
Shall never be in vain,
To serve with heart and might
One nation bound in freedom,
peace and unity.
O God of creation
Direct our noble cause
Guide our leaders right
Help our youth the truth to know
In love and honesty to grow
And living just and true
Great lofty height attain
To build a nation where peace
And justice shall reign.

Founder's Day Song
My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less
1. My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness;
We dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly lean on Jesus' name.
Chorus: On Christ, the solid rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand.
2. When darkness hides His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale
Our anchor holds within the veil.
3. His oath, His covenant, His blood
Support me in the whelming ood;
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.
4. When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found,
Clothed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne!
Daily Faith Anthem
HISTORY
Jephthah Comprehensive Secondary School (JCSS) is a private, full boarding, Junior and Senior Secondary School for boys and girls. The name 'Jephthah' means "God Opens."
thJCSS was established on the 6 of October, 1995 with seven children as the first students, and twelve members of staff at No. 2 Rumuibekwe Road and No.1 Yenegoa Street, Rumuibekwe Housing Estate in Port Harcourt, Nigeria.
On the 27th day of September, 1997, the school moved to its permanent site in the City of Christ on the East-West Road in the beautiful forested area of Rumuome-Ozuoba, Port Harcourt, Nigeria. Today, JCSS has over 400 students in the junior and senior schools with over 200 staff strength. Jephthah serves a diverse student - body in terms of ethnicity, economic status, and Christian denominations. Nigerians make up 99% of the students' population with African-Americans and the British making up the remaining 1%.
Known for her academic excellence, discipline, and Christian values, Jephthah has produced graduates and undergraduates of various higher institutions in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, Malaysia, Philippines, Hungary, Ukraine, Canada, Caribbean Islands, the United Kingdom and United States of America. The school is also a centre for the following British and American examinations: Cambridge GCE and IGCSE (supervised by the British Council, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.) PSAT, SAT, ACT, TOEFL, and GRE (organized by Educational Testing Services – ETS, United States of America). Our alumni serve in professional fields ranging from Administration, Education, Engineering, Finance, Law, Medicine, to the clergy.
All the honour, glory, praise and majesty belong to JESUS CHRIST who our FOUNDER, JEHOVAH GOD ALMIGHTY has given all powers in heaven and on earth. It is true there is a proliferation of private secondary schools in Nigeria but, it is nonetheless easy to identify the school with a difference in terms of standard operating procedure, moral and academic excellence. We stand to be counted among the few.
PHILOSOPHY OF JCSS
The philosophy of Jephthah Comprehensive Secondary School is succinctly hinged upon 2 Timothy3:16-17”All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness”. We believe that the Bible is the only inspired and infallible authoritative Word of God who is the author of all truth. To this end, we provide an atmosphere in the school that promotes spiritual, mental, social, and physical development as indicated in Luke 2:52 (And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man). We believe that the total education of each student necessitates active collaboration with parents to whom God has given the primary responsibility of educating the child. We train our students to develop in four (4 Pillars) core areas
VISION STATEMENT
BRIEF BACKGROUND OF THE SCHOOL
Our vision is to “train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it”. Proverbs 22:6 KJV
MISSION STATEMENTOur mission is to provide comprehensive Christian education in a supportive environment that promotes excellence in learning, self-discipline, and motivation, in ensuring that students become disciples of Jesus Christ and advance the global community.
SCHOOL MOTTO
Knowledge, Truth, and Light
EXPECTED STUDENTS' OUTCOMES:In JCSS, our philosophy is hinged on four pillars which we hold sacrosanct. These ideals are incorporated into the curriculum and determine our decisions on recruitment, facilities, equipment procurement, activities and events. We envision all students to be appreciably imbibed in the domains outlined below before graduating from JCSS.
And Jesus grew in wisdom (Academic)and stature (Physical)
and in favour with God (Spiritual)and man (Social & Emotional). Luke 2:52
