The meeting is named in honour of Dr Robert Guerin, an Adelaide otolaryngologist and past President of ASOHNS (1991 - 1993). Dr Guerin was the convener for the inaugural trainee meeting held in Adelaide in 1990. He was a great contributor to the OHNS specialty and a dedicated teacher who promoted the specialty both locally and internationally. Dr Guerin’s list of accomplishments was long and impressive. He obtained Fellowships to both the Edinburgh and English Royal College of Surgeons as well as the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. His training included appointments at St Mary’s Hospital, London and Radcliffe Infirmary in Oxford.

In 2003 the Council of ASOHNS named the Annual Registrars Conference in acknowledgement of the valuable contributions made by Dr Guerin in establishing and developing the conference.

be completed in SET 1). • Satisfactorily complete the RACS Surgical Science Examination in OHNS (may

accredited positions as allocated by the Board• Satisfactorily complete a Tympanoplasty Audit by June 30 of SET 4• Attend the Robert Guerin Memorial Annual Trainee Meeting (Australian

Trainees) or NZSOHNS Trainees Conference (New Zealand Trainees)*• Attend the ASOHNS or NZSOHNS Annual Scientific Meeting (during

SET1-5)**

By the end of SET 5• Satisfactorily complete 2 x 6 month clinical training rotations in OHNS

accredited positions as allocated by the Board• Have a minimum of 6 months exposure to Paediatric Otolaryngology• Have a minimum of 6 months exposure to Head and Neck Surgery• Satisfactorily complete a Head and Neck Dissection Course• Satisfactory completion of two (2) Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery

(FESS) courses.• Attend the Robert Guerin Memorial Annual Trainee Meeting (Australian

Trainees)* or NZSOHNS Trainees Conference (New Zealand Trainees) (unless already passed the RACS Fellowship examination)

• Attend the ASOHNS or NZSOHNS Annual Scientific Meeting (during SET1-5)**

• Satisfactorily complete the RACS Fellowship Examination in OHNS

* Attendance is mandatory for all Australian SET 1 - 5 Trainees. Attendance is also mandatory for SET 4 New Zealand Trainees. Attendance is mandatory for SET 5 Trainees who have not passed the Fellowship exam.** Attendance at a minimum of 3 ASOHNS or NZSOHNS Annual Scientific Meetings is required during SET 1 - 5.
