90% of students have jobs in the transportation industry before graduating.

Students gain academic and practical, hands-on experience.

Students may be eligible for the Dual Credit program, where they take college courses while obobtaining high school credits.

Students have opportunities to network with industry partners, establishing connections for future employment.

Experiential learning opportunities take place throughout the year, including industry site tours, guest speakers and job shadowing. Students obtain industry

recognized workplace certification training (e.g. First-Aid, CPR, WHMIS, customer service).

Co-operative Education placements help students build relationships and acquire industry knowledge.

When the students graduate, what are their pathway options? Opportunities include, but are not limited to:

• Apprenticeship – automotive/truck and coach/aviation/marine technician

• College – engineering technologist, designer, motor transport supervisor

• University – engineering, industrial design, business management

• • Workplace –mechanical installer/servicer, heavy equipment operator, parts attendant/supervisor

What will students learn?

Students in the Transportation Engineering and Technology program will take all mandatory courses required to obtain their OSSD (e.g. English, Science and Mathematics courses). In addition, students will study:

• engineering design – students use the design process to innovate and test vehicle designs using covehicle designs using computer software, 3D digital models, 3D printers

• operating principles and design features – students learn about steering and suspension features, brake systems, electrical systems and electronic engine management

• transportation technology – students learn to diagnose, repair, test and service transportation systems, and learn about vehicle inspections and safety
