Protecting a client’s wealth requires more than a wise investment. It means considering the client’s lifestyle, family commitments, legacies and dreams; it means determining the best way to achieve each client’s goals. These are goals Todd Vaughan and Alan Bevan help clients accomplish every day.

Founders and partners in the Vaughan Bevan Wealth Management Group, Vaughan, Vice President, Portfolio Manager and Investment Advisor, and Bevan, Vice President, Portfolio Manager and Investment Advisor, have a combined 30 plus years experience. Both hold economics degrees and have attained the highest level of investment certification available. The combination of education and experience has been essential in allowing the two to build a business that successfully serves their clients’ investment needs year after year.

While investment planning is a key component of Vaughan and Bevan’s business, it is by no means their sole interest. In fact, the two practice “integrated wealth management,” including retirement planning and retirement income solutions, estate planning, charitable giving and legacies. In addition to individual clients, the two are experienced in trusts and foundations. Plus clients know the pair’s extensive professional affiliates ensure they can access outside expertise that might be needed in those situations that require a more specialized approach.

“The key to advice is context,” and that means presenting clients with the facts they need to feel comfortable in the current financial environment. “We explain what’s going on in the world, how it affects you and what you should do,” Vaughan says.

In what can seem to be a complicated

financial environment, transparency is essential to the way Vaughan and Bevan approach clients. “One of our core values is that the process be transparent and straightforward,” Vaughan says.

“An advisor’s job is to understand the goals and risk comfort level of a client from the first meeting.”

Enhancing that level of comfort is the fact that Vaughan and Bevan – and the decision-making process – are here in Victoria, not back east. “A lot of clients get a sense of well-being from having us here. Not only are we making good decisions but they are being made here in Victoria,” Vaughan says. “For clients it means they can talk directly with the decision-makers.”

Clients have been Vaughan and Bevan’s strongest advocates. “During the recent economic downturn, for example, our approval rating actually improved,” Bevan says. “While others were reluctant to act in times of economic uncertainty, we were making tactical decisions in the worst environment when our process warranted it. In turn, that led to significant out-performance of comparable market benchmarks.”

With their work ethic and their discipline, Vaughan and Bevan have created one of the largest and most successful investment practices in Victoria.

Balance is also essential for these husbands and fathers; balance that is possible due to technology and to their professional team that includes Jennifer Banner and Arlene Kane. “We wouldn’t be able to do this without our strong, qualified, experienced support staff. They give us the ability to concentrate on what we need to focus on and that contributes to a client’s positive experience.”
