Ministry of Environtment and Forestry Republic of Indonesia Introduction of Manggala Agni In accordance with Article 47 of 1999 on Forestry, protection of forest and forest areas is the attempt to: - Prevent and restrict damage to forests, forest areas, and forest products which is caused by human actions, livestock, FIRE, forces of nature, pests and diseases; and - Maintain and safeguard the rights of the State, society, and individuals on the forest, forest area, forest products, investment and devices that related to forest management. Based on the above Act, Department of Forestry established Manggala Agni to protect and prevent the forests from destruction due to fires and forest fires which occurred every year. The fire is a threat that must be resolved. Manggala Agni is the Indonesian Forest Fire Brigade, which was formed by the Ministry of Forestry in 2003. This brigade was established in order to carry out the task of forest fire control activities include prevention, suppression and post-fire forest actions. Manggala Agni ActivitiesIn order to control the forest and land fires, the basic pattern is to conduct a series of activities, which is started with prevention (efforts to prevent forest fires), suppression (activities for suppressing forest and land fires) and post-fire actions (efforts to identify, evaluate, rehabilitate and monitor locations of land and forest fires.To carry out these activities clear institutional are needed, either includes software and hardware.
