Universal Software for All Diagnostic Tools of the “bus-check” Family CUSTOMER BENEFITS > License-free, No Activation Required > Clear, Easy-to-read Test Results > Detailed Test Report PROFIBUS Diagnostics Suite PROFIBUS COMMON SOFTWARE FOR ALL DIAGNOSTIC PRODUCTS The PROFIBUS Diagnostics Suite supports the PROFIBUS Testers 3 and 4, the Protocol Analyzers for DP and PA and, optionally, the PROFIBUS Monitor. The single software approach eliminates the need to learn different user interface aspects and operating philosophies. The available diagnostic functionality depends on the connected test tool. The software is license-free and does not require activation, allowing the analysis of test data on any number of PCs. SUITABLE FOR THE FIELDBUS NOVICE The PC software has been designed with the all-important ease-of-use aspect in mind so a typical user does not need a degree in electrical engineering to be able to read and understand the test results. However, for network specialists the software offers many in-depth protocol specific diagnostic features including frame-by-frame analysis and oscilloscope display. This renders the software ideal for both less experienced users and fieldbus specialists. INTUITIVE USE AND CLEAR READINGS Selecting the “Quick-Test” button on the welcome screen of the software initiates a full analysis of a PROFIBUS network including electrical signal and protocol analysis. A summary of all results is displayed to the user in a very intuitive manner using familiar traffic light symbols. Critical conditions on the network are color-coded and a user has quick access to additional information. The “Topology Scan” feature enables the software to determine the distances between stations, the physical location of stations within network, and total cable length of a network. This information is used to display all connected stations in the order of their actual position within the network. This essential feature helps to correlate test results with the actual position of each station in the network. The integrated master simulator allows the user to perform network tests in case no other controller is active. After selecting the baud rate no further configuration is required to activate the simulator. For detecting sporadic faults over a prolonged period of time the software offers a “Trend” feature while the “Oscilloscope” and “Frame analysis” functions are a wealth of information for the network specialists. A comprehensive documentation of all test results is achieved with the integrated test report generator. This PC software package emphasizes the all-important ease-of-use aspect while, at the same time, preserves the more in-depth diagnostic features required by networking experts. One mouse-click initiates a full analysis of a PROFIBUS network including electrical signal and protocol analysis. Note: Full functionality only available with PROFIBUS Tester 4.
