U.S. and other countries• Administered by the U.S. Department of Education • 4-6 week trips for 16 teachers in each of six or seven

sessions• 4 trips maximum• Congress appropriates money with small contribution by

teacher

• National Endowment for the Humanities, an independent grant-making agency for the Federal Government.

• Offers Landmarks of American History and Culture Workshops for K-12 teachers, librarians, homeschool parents

• One-week programs provide direct experiences in interpretation of significant historical and cultural sites

• Stipends are $1200 to help cover living expenses, books, and travel
