SCHOTTELRudderpropeller

SCHOTTEL Rudderpropellers(SRP) are combined propulsionand steering systems rated atup to 6000 kW, which convertthe engine power into optimumthrust. As the underwater com-ponents can be steered through360 degrees, the full propulsivepower can also be used for ma-noeuvring and dynamic positio-ning of the ship.

Maximum manoeuvrability,optimum efficiency, economicaloperation, space-saving instal-lation and simple maintenance– these are just a few of theoutstanding features of thisrobust and reliable propulsionconcept, which has proved itsworth under tropical and arcticconditions in vessels of allkinds all over the globe.

SCHOTTELTwin-Propeller

The SCHOTTEL Twin-Propeller(STP) is the successful optimi-sation of the complete Rudder-propeller system with anefficiency up to 20% higher. Itis the ideal means of propulsionfor all vessels in the mediumspeed range.

Two propellers mounted on acommon shaft and rotating inthe same direction, with guidefins integrated into the com-plete system, result in a host ofadvantages, including highreliability due to the straightfor-ward construction with a smallnumber of moving parts, reduc-tion of the propeller diameterwithout penalising the efficien-cy, lower fuel costs and lowmaintenance requirements.

SCHOTTELNavigator

The SCHOTTEL Navigator (NAV)can readily be installed as acomplete, self-contained pro-pulsion package on virtually anywatercraft. Its main compo-nents are the chassis, engine ormotor, clutch, cardan shaft andRudderpropeller.

SCHOTTELCombi Drive

In the SCHOTTEL Combi Drivea motor is integrated verticallyinto the support tube of theRudderpropeller. This arrange-ment means that the concept issimilar to that of a Rudder-propeller with a vertical powerinput (“L-System”). Moreover,neither an above-water gearboxnor a cardan shaft is required,making the system extremelycompact and easy for the ship-yard to install in the vessel.

The azimuth steering can beimplemented using eitherhydraulic or electric motors.The Combi Drive is available assingle propeller version withnozzle or twin propeller versionand covers the power rangefrom 1900 to 3800 kW.

SCHOTTELTransverse Thruster

SCHOTTEL Transverse Thrus-ters (STT) are built on the basisof the tried-and-tested under-water gearboxes of our Rud-derpropellers.

We supply standard TransverseThrusters with FP or CP propel-lers rated at up to 3400 kW.SCHOTTEL offers optimizedsolutions even for special appli-cations in which extremely lownoise generation is required.

SCHOTTELPump-Jet

The SCHOTTEL Pump-Jet (SPJ)operates on the principle of acentrifugal pump. An impellersucks in water from under thehull and forces it into a pumphousing. The outlet nozzles arefitted in the bottom plate, mak-ing it possible for the jet to beinstalled in a flat-bottomed hulltoo.

With a compact design, low lossof buoyancy and low suctioneffect, Pump-Jets with powerratings up to 3500 kW develop ahigh thrust even in extremelyshallow water and over a widespeed range.

SCHOTTELSteering Systems

SCHOTTEL Steering andControl Systems (SST) aretailored to each individualapplication. The spectrumextends from simple manuallyoperated mechanical steeringwheels on the propulsion unititself to computer-aided,remote-controlled joysticksystems.

It is no longer possible toimagine this sector withoutmicroelectronics, whichconsiderably enhances theoperational reliability. Withour systems, we are in aposition to give every ship-master the optimum “tool”for operating, manoeuvringand positioning his vesselsafely and easily.

SCHOTTELCP Propeller Unit

SCHOTTEL controllable-pitchpropellers (SCP) are propulsionsystems that can be used withalmost any type of vessel. Thepower spectrum ranges from600 kW to 30,000 kW, withpropeller sizes varying betweenapproximately 1.5 to 8.0metres.

Advanced calculation methodsallow the controllable-pitch pro-peller systems to be optimallyadapted to the vessel’s hullform, thereby maximizingefficiency and minimizing noisegeneration. The simple structu-re of the SCP guarantees a highlevel of user-friendliness, andthe robust design keepsmaintenance requirements to aminimum and ensures it a longservice life.
