Importance of Agricultural Inputs :

NSSO defines that a place 75% of male working population is engaged in Agriculture is called a Rural Area.

This itself defines the importance of agriculture in rural India.

Agriculture is the backbone of our Indian economy. Agricultural development is a precondition of our national prosperity.

Apart from those who are directly involved in the agrarian sector, a large number of the population is also engaged in agro-based activities.

Tractor Market

From just about 50000 units in early 80s the size of tractor market in the country has grown up to over 200000 units.

In terms of  number of tractors sold, average volumes are around 250000 units per annum out of the world market of about 8 lakh. But in terms of  penetration per thousand hectares, India is way behind world average.

The tractor density of 10 tractors per 1000 hectares is significantly lower when compared with the world average of 50-60 tractors per 1000 hectares.

required in hand plowing.

• No physical labor required.

• Its basic function is to make the lad ready for the seeds.

• In almost no time we can plow hectares of land.

• During harvest, the tractors are the ones collecting the harvest and sending the bulk of harvest to the dealers.

• They are also the ones transporting it from the farm to the market.

Need of Sprayer

The sprayer also holds an important position in whole agricultural activity.

During agricultural production process insecticides & other anti-microbial things are sprayed on the growing crops in order to protect them from any kind of destruction.

The sprayer not only help in easy spraying of these pesticides & insecticides but also help in easy handling of such chemicals & reduces the chances of low or high spraying of such chemicals.

Hybrid Seeds

Quality soil and seed are two of the most important farming inputs.

High yields and good produce can be achieved only when soil and seeds are used wisely.

Seed is one of the most important inputs which are necessary for the production of crops & other produces.

In the market there are number of companies dealing & offering number of high quality seeds which includes the innate trait of insecticides & pesticides.

Importance• The seeds are of high

quality and that too these are available at reasonable prices to the farmers.

• It must be ensured that more benefits can be carried out by the farmers using the seeds.

• The high yielding varieties are also available of the seeds which make it more suitable for the farmers to purchase.

Importance

Many important benefits are achieved by the use of agrochemicals.

These are largely associated with increased yields of plant and animal crops, and less spoilage during storage. These benefits are substantial.

In combination with genetically improved varieties of crop species, agrochemicals have made important contributions to the successes of the Green Revolution.

This has helped to increase the food supply for the rapidly increasing population of humans on Earth.

Companies have great opportunities in rural area and specially in agricultural products.

Due to huge population and massive demand, big profits can be achieved. Besides food is the most basic requirement to live. So it

is important for social well being too. Companies can grow socially and

economically at the same time creating a good brand image just by fulfilling the most

basic demand of people – food.

Trains, planes, automobiles, everything is available in urban area. However, in rural settings, the

availability of transportation is often limited. Reliable transportation is critical to rural people.

Page 18: Products and Services for Rural Areas

Need of proper transportation

• Research says• 40 percent of all rural residents live in areas with no public

transportation.• Another 28 percent live in areas with limited levels of service.

• Rural residents need to receive medical care, get to work, access child care, purchase food and household items, attend school events, and access many other services just as their urban counterparts.

• Frequent accessibility is restricted or limited because of the distance to those services or opportunities, and the lack of public and private transportation.

• Transportation is also a pivotal factor in determining whether the disabled and aged populations are able to remain in their homes and their communities.

• Enhancing transportation opportunities for a rural community can improve economic growth and community development that will ensure quality of life for residents in rural environments.

Rural Areaat Present

• People have to walk miles to go to work, to fill water, to educate themselves and even for health facilities.

• Public transport is completely missing.

• People moves in cycles, trucks, tractors & bullock carts

• They even have to travel sitting in the roof of buses and trains because they are limited in number.

Page 20: Products and Services for Rural Areas

Opportunities

Companies can grab this opportunity and must introduce buses and jeeps for people at the minimum cost.

The people need a mean of transport to move to city market for basic needs and bus company would be the best in this regard.

Rural India contains over 68% of India's total population with half of it living below poverty line, struggling for better and easy access to

health care and services. Health issues confronted by rural people are diverse and

many.

Page 23: Products and Services for Rural Areas

Healthcare Issues in Rural Area

Malnutrition : 42% of India’s children below the age of three are

malnourished. Although India’s economy grew 50% from 2001–

2006, its child-malnutrition rate only dropped 1%.

Infant Mortality Rate : Approximately 1.72 million children die each year

before turning one. Shortages of healthcare providers, poor intra-partum

and newborn care, diarrheal diseases and acute respiratory infections also contribute to the high infant mortality rate.

Page 24: Products and Services for Rural Areas

• Disease :• Diseases such as dengue fever, hepatitis,

tuberculosis, malaria and pneumonia continue to plague India due to increased resistance to drugs.

• India is ranked 3rd among the countries with the most HIV-infected.

• Diarrheal diseases are the primary causes of early childhood mortality.

• Poor sanitation :• As more than 122 million households have no

toilets, and 33% lack access to latrines; over 50% of the population (638 million) defecates in the open.

• 80% of the rural population leave their stools in the open.

• Open air defecation leads to the spread of diseases and malnutrition through parasitic and bacterial infections.

• Inadequate safe drinking water :• Only 26% of the rural population has access to safe

drinking water, others don’t have any proper source of water.
