First entry

On the first day of production I decided to get create all the typography for my front cover. I initially found this difficult as there were endless amount of options to choose from therefore deciding which font to use was difficult. However in the end I decided to go for a simplistic text so that is easy to read from any distance as well as choosing bold text so that it is emphasised and can be read from a distance. I also had to make sure that I included a sell line, a strap line and a title which all linked to each other as well as my genre of music which I have chosen, I feel that I have succeed in this which is shown on the print screen. At this moment I did not decide where to place the text.

Second Entry

For second day of production I decided to do the photo shoot of my first music artist, this is because I felt that it was important to have the pictures of the artist so that I am able to work around the picture when creating the front cover as well as contents page and double page spread. This went very well and I had a variety of pictures to choose from. This is because we took a few pictures at school, and then after school we took a few more in different lighting as well as different atmosphere. I had also different camera shots such as close up or long shots so I could decide which looks better in the magazine. I decided to change the clothes for my model, as in most magazines which I have seen the music artist wears different clothing from the front compared to inside.

Third Entry

As I had completed the photo shot for my first artist I decided to continue working on the front cover. I began by placing the images which I felt where best and appropriate for a magazine and playing around to see which one were best. There were some which the quality of the photo was not good as it was blurred when enlarged, there were others were it didn’t suit to be on the cover of the magazine because of the type of shot it was, therefore I decided to place them in the inside of my magazine. I wasn’t 100% sure on where to place the text as I wanted it to be visible and read by the audience.

Fourth EntryOn the fourth day of production I had

decided to finish working on my magazine front cover so I knew this was completed and can use the basis of the front cover for the inside of my magazine as the front cover gives me a sense of direction in what to include in the contents page as well as the double page spread. To finish the front cover I had to simply position all the text so that it was in a order which was clear and readable. I also included minor details such as including the barcode as well as small rectangle boxes separating parts of the text. I had also included three social networking logo’s because social networking is a key part to teenagers lives therefore thought it was appropriate to include it as my magazine is aimed teenagers.

Fifth Entry

This production day consisted of another photo shot of my second artist this is because I needed extra photos of another artist for my contents page, and felt that once I had all the images I am able to see which layout is best for the pictures. The photo shot went very well I had a variety of pictures so I was able to make a decision on which one would be best suited in the magazine. Once I had chosen the images I wanted, one of my main artist and another of my second artist. This is because I believe that there should be balance of images and text so that the audience are still drawn in.

Sixth Entry

For my sixth production day I began by placing the two images on the page. I decide to make sure that the main artist was a bigger picture than the second artist to show that she is the main artist and so that the audience are instantly drawn to the main artist. Once I positioned the images, I then chose to make the title for the contents page I choose to keep the same text to show continuity throughout. I then thought that it was best to type up a brief summary of the main artist and the second artist. At this moment I was not clear in where I was going to position them therefore I had just randomly placed them on the page.

Seventh Entry

On the seventh day of production, I started to connect the images and the typography so there was a clear layout for the contents page. I then looked at other magazines to see what was regularly shown on a contents page, by seeing various of magazines there was a regular reoccurrence of features and regulars therefore felt it was appropriate to include it in my magazine. So today I decided to write up all the stories for both regulars and features. Whilst I typed everything up the layout started to fit together and started to look like an actual contents page and was clear to understand.

Eighth Entry

Today I decided that I wanted to complete my contents page as there was minor details which needed to be included. This was like the page numbers for the pictures and the articles as well as the actual page number for the contents page. I decided that I wanted to box some of the information on the page so it was easier to read and split the information once I did this is was happy with my final product. I made sure that the colours matched the front cover to show a continuous theme. I also choose to place the numbers in vinyl records because I had an idea for my double page spread which included them so felt it was appropriate to do so.

Ninth Entry

On production day nine, as I completed the front cover and the contents page began creating the double page spread. With this I began by starting with the left hand side page, this is where the image of the artist was going to be placed. To begin by placing my image onto the page I had to take a picture of a broken record. Once I had done this I placed it on the page and I a position which I felt suited the page. I then went through the images which I took of my main artist and choose three images which I felt best represented the artist as well as fitted well in the record. When I did this I then created a clipping mask on the three images so that they fitted into the records and I was happy with the result as I felt it looked professional.

Tenth Entry

On the tenth day of production I decided to write up the interview for the artist, as well as the quotes which I wanted highlighted in bold. Once I had completed this I transferred the type up into photo shop and lined them up in columns like a magazine article. I had decided that I wanted to leave a gap roughly in the middle to place a floating quote.

Eleventh Entry

Today I wanted to focus on the title and the main quote. This is because the quote which I had, I wanted to make it different and unique therefore I decided that it would take up half of the page and it would be a different colour font of the main article. I choose to use read and blue to show the colour theme continuing throughout the magazine. I also made the title attractive and eye catching by having some large letters and some small to create a unique style. My title was very simple as it was just the name of the artist and I had decided to place this on the left hand side page according to the layout of the image.

Twelfth Entry

This was the final day of production, I decided to just simply re check the work to make sure I included all relevant information and to make sure that the article made sense as well as the floating quotes.
