FMP - Production Log

Name Joshua Gillespie

Date: 04/02/14

I started and finished my mood board, and also started the production log, I now understand what kind of urban city that I’d like to do with added environment. After I did this I made a small change to my scenario. I have not found any difficulties so far.

Date: 25/02/14

Today I have put up examples from movies with a destructive setting up onto my blog, this has helped me realise what kind of setting that I want to go for, what kind of destruction, such as atomic bombs or a zombie infestation. And I will also start to plan my questionnaire to get some primary research that will help me towards choosing what to place around the map.

Date: 26/02/14

I have started and finished my PowerPoint for the pitch that I am about to give to Amanda and harry, once I did the pitch I updated my production log and put the PowerPoint presentation onto blogger.

Today I created a schedule and timeline to which I am going to work from so that I do not miss my deadline, if I stick with this I will have all my work done by the set date.

Date: 06/03/14

I have now started the production of urban landscape; I have found it difficult to get back into modeller, as I have not used the program in a great amount of time.

Date: 11/03/14

Getting on with the landscape it has become easier finding tools that I had previously forgot about. I added a door, and remade the original building I made from

06/03/14.

In the start of this I playing trying to correct my sizing, as the proportion that I had made with the grid were no correct and so putting it into layout would have shown the buildings to be a whole lot larger than they should be.

Date: 13/03/14

Today I started texturing the work that I had previously done, I forgot how to do this at the start and had to ask for help to be able to add surfaces. Once I started it was easy enough to carry on with.

Today I created two more buildings to put with original that I have made, I did find a problem when I was trying to drill a shape into the side of one of my buildings, as I started to subdivide when making the other indents. I’ll try to combat this next lesson.

Date: 20/03/14

I have fixed the problem that I had last lesson, and have drilled the indent into the centre building. I have also started to build a picket fence as I am not sure what kind to add onto the airport. I don’t feel that the picket fence will be added and I will add a large concrete wall which will be more suitable.

Date: 25/03/14

I have deleted the picket fence and started work on the airport, I have added a large concrete wall and a landing strip with a hangar next to it, as I will not be going over the wall with my fly through, I don’t feel that I will have to add much detail into the airport. I have also added a ground surface so that I will have something to base my work on.

Date: 26/03/14

I started building a lake into my base surface, I have not decided whether I want to add the water as an animation or as just one whole texture, there are downsides to both, with an animation it will take longer and is harder to do, but with it being one whole texture it will be easier but lack movement. I’ll decide which next lesson.

Date: 27/03/14

In this lesson I have added the base to my parking lot, and four other buildings, I feel that the buildings should be the same as it will be one estate, so the buildings that I create will be similar. Although some will be damaged, I have still not decided upon the animation/whole texture with the water.

In this lesson I have finished with modeller and all I have to do is create the fly-through. I had to bevel my roads and the railway, and also lower some of the buildings that I created so that it would not be above ground. I have decided to use the one whole texture as I feel that it will not be worth the work that I put in the animation. With the one whole texture is will be easier to create although not looking as good.

Date: 01/04/14

I have finished the fly through and will render it on 03/04/14, Although it is a little fast.

Finished the render and have uploaded it onto YouTube and then put on my blog, I will be rearranging some of my blog to make it more appealing and adding overall finishes. I have also completed my evaluation with a good standard and will put onto my blog.
