Desorber D10 Product Sheet PSST1020-UK 13.06.2014 Water Separation from Oil - Max. 0.2 L/hour Applications: Thrusters, Stern Tubes, Hydraulics, Synthetic Fluids Page 1/2 THE APPLICATION CJC™ Desorber D10 - a very compact desorber - is used for separation of water from oils in Thrusters Stern tubes Hydraulic applications Synthetic fluids • Smaller gears with smaller oil volumes The advantage of the CJC™ Desorbers is that the water separation ability is unaffected by viscosity and additive package. The Desorber treats mineral oils as well as synthetic fluids, even the new kind of EALs (Environmentally Acceptable Lubricants) / biodegradable lubri- cants and is able to break stable emulsions. The Desorber D10 is able to remove 0.2 L/h of water, and is able to maintain the water content within systems to very low levels. Intended for: • Oil volumes less than 2,000 Litres • Viscosity range ISO VG 32 - 150 THE FUNCTION The desorption process is based on the principle that heated air can effectively hold large quantities of water. In the Desorber the oil, preheated to 60 ºC, is met by a counter flow of cold, dry air. The air is heated very quickly by the hot oil and absorbs any water present in the oil, until the air is saturated. Water in oil leads to change in viscosity, reduced filter ability, reduced lubricity, formation of rust and bacterial growth and increased degradation of the oil - all factors that lead to reduced lifetime of both system components and the oil. FEATURES Removes water even from emulsified oil Extends the lifetime of both oil and components Prevents uncontrolled shut downs and reduces maintenance costs Compact in size - fits through most hatches TECHNICAL DATA Desorber D10 Height 1,000 mm Length 570 mm Width 570 mm Weight 100 kg Water removal, max. 0.2 L / hour Voltage 1 x 230 V Frequency 50 or 60 Hz Power Consumption 1.7 kW Current 11.3 A Flow inlet (nominal flow) 45 L / hour The CJC™ Desorber D10

THE APPLICATIONCJC™ Desorber D40 is used for separation of water from oils in
Paper mills Steel mills Waste oil recovery plants Biodiesel plants Power industry• Large hydraulic systems
The advantage of the CJC™ Desorbers is that the water removal ability is unaffected by viscosity and additive package. The Desorber treats mineral oils as well as synthetic fluids, and is even able to break stable emulsions. The Desorber D40 is able to remove up to 8 L/h of water, and can dry the oil down to a water content of <200 ppm, depending on the oil type.
Intended for:• Oil volumes less than 25,000 Litres• Viscosity range VG 32 - 680
THE fUNCTIONThe desorption process is based on the principle that heated air can effectively hold large quantities of water. In the Desorber the oil, preheated to 60 - 80 ºC, is met by a counter flow of cold, dry air. The air is heated very quickly by the hot oil and will absorb any water present until the air is saturated.
Water in oil leads to change in viscosity, reduced filter ability, reduced lubricity, formation of rust, bacterial growth and increased degradation of the oil - all factors that lead to reduced lifetime of both system components and the oil.
fEATUrES• Removes water even from emulsified oil• Extends the lifetime of both oil and components• Prevents uncontrolled shut downs and reduces maintenance costs• Easy to connect and operate

Removal of Water, Particles and Oil Degradation Products from Emulsified Oils and Environmentally Acceptable Lubricants (EAL) / Biodegradable Oils
Page 1/2
APPLICATIONCJC™ Desorber-Filter-Combi-Unit is a combined product used for maintenance of oils. The unit removes large amounts of water and particles as well as oil degradation products from a wide range of lubricants including emulsified oils and EAL (Environmentally Acceptable Lubricants) / biodegradable lubricants in applications such as:
Marine Applications: EAL / Biodegradable Oils: y Thrusters Esters y Stern tubes PAG y Rudders PAO y Stabiliser fins Emulsified oils y Controllable pitch propeller y etc.
ChALLENgEWater in oil leads to change in viscosity, reduced filter ability, reduced lubricity, formation of rust and bacterial growth and increased degradation of the oil - all factors that lead to reduced lifetime of both system components and the oil. *
CUSTOMER BENETIFSThe CJC™ Desorber-Filter-Combi-Unit is easy to install with one inlet and one outlet, has a small footprint area and is ready to work in less than 30 minutes - plug-and-play.
y Removal of large amounts of water - even from emulsified lubricants - preventing formation of acid and microbial growth
y Removal of particles and sodium y Removal of oil degradation products y Reduced corrosion and wear / tear of rubber made sealings y Extended lifetime of both oil and components y Prevents uncontrolled shut downs and reduces
maintenance costs y Compact and environment-friendly
The advantages of the CJC™ Desorber-Filter-Combi-Unit are that the water separation ability is unaffected by viscosity and additive package. The unit treats mineral oils as well as synthetic fluids, even the new kind of EAL (Environmentally Acceptable Lubricants) / biodegradable lubricants and is able to break stable emulsions. The water content within the system can be reduced to very low levels.Simultaneously, particles, sodium and oil degradation products are continuously removed from the oil system by the integrated fine filter unit.
FUNCTIONDesorber: The desorption process is based on the principle that heated air can effectively hold large quantities of water. In the Desorber the oil is preheated to 60°C and met by a counter flow of cold dry air. The air is heated rapidly by the hot oil and absorbs any water present in the oil, until the air is saturated. The warm, moist air is then chilled to condense the water out.Fine Filter unit: The filtration process is performed by the separate pump drawing oil from the main system and passing it through the depth filter insert. The cleaned oil is returned back to the main system.

*) FACTSThe Classification Society, DNV-GL, in their Technical e-Newsletter of June 12th 2013 has stated that, for their Clean Design Class Notification:
“If a biodegrad-able oil is used, an arrangement shall be in place to keep the water content of the oil under control”.
