1. Big Picture– Help users see how their process can be affected by upstream processes and can affect downstream processes

2. Company Process– It’s rare to find two companies that have the exact same process. Maps can be modified/updated to show your company’s actual process. This may be useful during Audits, etc.

3. Reduce Training Time for New Users– New users can follow a process map which will take them to the actual QAD screen to do the work, instead of needing to learn how to navigate the menu to find what they are looking for

Process Maps 101 – Why use them? Examples

1. Process Folder – Defined on Menu A.8.40 / 0.40

By default:–40.1 – urn:pmap:1_VIP_SF–40.2 – urn:pmap:1_SCP_SF–40.3 – urn:pmap:1_OPV_SF

Set up security similar to any other menu. Normally this is left to “*” so that all users may see the processes

2. Processes (ellipses) – all users w/ access to map

3. QAD Programs (rectangles) – set by Menu Security

4. Administration Folder – Process Editor– Process Admin

By default, granted to the ‘qadadmin’ security group.

Note: By default, user ‘mfg’ also has access without being in the qadadmin group.

Can also allow users access to the Process Editor by adding them to the ‘pronav’ security group. However, they will not be able to see the Process Editor directly on the menu, only in Process Maps

1. Open the Procedure Editor then click Open

3. Save the map with your new Name and Owner

Note: Recommend using the xx convention to identify as custom

1. Click on an empty space to add a new node

Update the Node Properties– Label – Title – Tooltip – Mouse fly-over text– Link – Process Map, File, or QAD Menu– Target – Current or New Window – Image – (optional) picture– Icon – (optional) icon– Shape – rectangle, oval, etc.– Style – pre-defined styles with color, etc.– Background Color– Add More Links – more than 1 Link (above)– Cell Borders – define outline

Users can add process maps to their favorites

Whenever possible, follow the same conventions for naming your custom process maps as for custom code – eg. “xx”

Note: Labels are generally not shared by Process Maps with QAD ERP. Need to use the Process Label Maintenance
