"EARTH, WHAT ARE YOU LIKE?"

When something banal i s to be r i d i cu l ed , it i susual to make the sa rcas t ic comment t ha t two t imestwo i s four , the Volga f a l l s in to the Caspian Seaand t ha t the Earth , na tu ra l ly , i s not square butround. Concerning the Earth , the geologis t s andgeophysic i s t s may not accep t those words as t ru th .In other words, they must admit , and in f rankness wi l lfu l ly procla im, t h a t such a form fo r the Ear th doesnot en t i r e ly su i t them. What shape would? Angular.Only a f t e r mil l ions o f years of motion and the ac t ion

of many forces did the ea r th round i t s e l f in to the

form of a sphere ; in the beginning, it may have beena co los sa l c ry s t a l .

According to sc i en t i s t s , the bur ied "boundar ies"of the former c r y s t a l could have been preserved in

the body of the p lane t ; 1n some places , howeverimpercept ib ly , they may even prot rude - - - l ike aca rcass through t au t sk in . I f only they could befound!

Nikolaj Fedorovich Goncharov knew nothing of

these sc i en t i f i c d i spu tes s ince h is i n t e r e s t s hadnothing in common with the problems of geology andgeophysics . He was working by correspondence a t aunivers i ty of the a r t s and was ser ious ly i n t e re s t ed

only in anc ien t cu l tu re s . At some poin t NikolajFedorovich began to mark on a geographical map thesea t s o f ancien t cu l tu re s . As the number of markspro l i f e r a t ed , there grew a percept ion of some in t angib le symmetry. This was r ea l l y not a percept ion ,

but r a the r a weak i n tu i t i v e impulse ; it was much

For f ive years they s tudied the f ac t s of unimagin-ably diverse sc iences - - - archeology , geochemistry, meteorology, and orni tho logy; only recent ly have theydecided to p resen t t h e i r "mad idea" before the

M athem aticians w il l sk e p t ic a l ly add  th a t   the

I f th e   core   o f the p lan e t i s   made up o f co lo ssa l

somewhere.  This   was  the f i r s t success o f the   conje c tu re : the   l in e s   on the map co inc ided with  many

Look a t the   v e r t ic e s of th e   t r ia n g le s .   In e x p li

even ts tak e p lace a t the nodes and  edges of thel a t t i c e . I f the hypothesis i s   co r rec t , then the

etched sc h eme may denote on  a more global sca le , ju s t

such a s t ruc tu ra l l a t t i c e " running   through  the plane t

and which determines many events on t h i s s t range

c r y s ta l known as  the   e a r th .

But the authors decided to delve  fu r the r . Let ustake   meteoro logical, geological and s imi l a r   maps,

superimpose the " l a t t i c e "   on them and  see  what happens.

What  happened  was th a t a l l g lobal   c en ters   of maximal

and minimal atm ospheric pressure occurred   a t the nodesof the ske le ton. There a lso coincided  the   p laces where

hurr icanes o r ig ina te ;   many cur r en ts blow  along theedges .

They appl ied t h e i r scheme  to maps in d ic a t ing so la ra c t i v ity ; the   reg ions   rece iv in g a maxim um of rad ia t ion

coinc ided   with   some of the nodes  of the system. O thernodes  corresponded to   gigant ic   vor t ice s of oceancur ren ts .

Then the   maps of  o rn i tho lo g is t s were s tud ied .

Again a  correspondence:  the pr in c ip a l globa l regions to   which b i rds m igrate fo r the   w in te r l i e   a t   the nodesof the system.

Also the g lo ba l  depos i ts of ores have been " inscr ib ed" in to the   s t ru c tu re of the   c r y s ta l . On a m ap f ind

the fo l low ing: the o i l f i e l d s of North A frica and  the  P ers ian Gulf; the metals r ing of the P aci f ic Ocean;

the o i l - r ic h region   from  Cal i fo rn ia to Texas. A llthese l i e   along   the "seam", t ha t i s along  the junc tu res

o f the g igant ic p la te s . Look a t the nodes; in then orth o f our coun try , the l in e s c ross over the reg ion   ofthe g igan t ic Tyumen o i l f ie l d ;   a t the bottom  of theglobe , they in d ic a te the r i che s t d e p o sits in SouthAfrica ; in South America they  " touch / in te rsec t"   the

huge d eposi t s in Serro de Pasco; in the nor the rn p a r tof th a t   co n t ine n t, they   i nd i ca te   o i l and other deposi t s

in Alaska and  Canada.  Suppose fo r the moment t ha t

the   system i s p rec ise ly   def ined . Can you imagine i t ?

In connection wi th the d isappearances , they   do no toccur r egu la r ly ; s im ila r ly , it i s d i f f i c u l t   to f ind animmutable  system a t work in many o the r ins tances .

The autho rs o f the hypothesis put fo r th   the   suggestion

t h a t the nodes of the system resemble bl inking

" t r a f f i c l i gh t s " ; f i r s t one s e t o f nodes i s ac t ive

while the r e s t are "s i l en t " , then converse ly . What

do sc i en t i s t s th ink of th i s? They accept as es t a

bl i shed t h a t during the e a r t h ' s his tory , from t ime to

t ime there have been per iods of tec tonic-magmatic

ac t i v i za t i on .

When it comes to the ice age , sp ec i a l i s t s in

ev i t ab ly use the term "refuge of l i f e " . On ourt e r r i t o r y there are three regions where l i f e wassaved from the i ce . Not su rp r i s ing ly , these regionsalso occur a t the nod,es of the " l a t t i c e " .

Agreed, sa id the i nves t i ga to r s , t ha t the s t r u c t u r a l energy skele ton of the system somehow in f luences

p lan t s and animals . Can man be an except ion? Afte r

a l l h is i s only a b io log ica l form. Thus it i s t imeto re turn to the very f i r s t map to see t ha t many

anc ien t cul tu res - - - Egypt , the proto-Indian c i v i l i za t ion in Mohenjo-Daro, Northern Mongolia , the anc ien t

cul ture o f I re land , Eas ter I s l and , Ancient Peru , ourKiev and many others - - - occur not randomly but pre

c i se ly a t the nodes of the system. Moreover, in

recedt years there have been sensa t iona l archeo log i

c a l f inds : t r aces of a cu l tu r e in Thailand-Vietnam(da t ing to 7000 B.C.) ind ica te the beginning o f .agr i cu l tu r e 2000 years before the agr i cu l tu r e in the

Middle East which up to t h i s t ime had been cons ideredthe c rad le of mankind. These new d i scover i e s are a lso

" inscr ibed" in the system.

Look a t the l a s t drawing. 30 such s t range ob jec t s

o f gold were found in Vietnam, one - - - a bronze - - - in

France. Thei r markings are not understood by sc ien

t i s t s . Some say t h a t it i s a ca lendar , o the rs t ha tit i s an as t ro log i ca l symbol. As you may have guessed,our authors have t h e i r own i n t e rp re t a t ion : does th i sobjec t not resemble the above s t r u c t u r a l model in

number of edges and nodes?

Well, t h i s i s a l l t ha t I wished to r e l a t e from thewords o f the authors concerning t h i s surpr i s ing hypot he s i s . I have only to add t ha t many sc i en t i s t s are

aware o f it: N. Goncharov, V. Makarov, and V. Morozov

were heard by many a t sess ions of var ious sc i en t i f i csoc ie t i e s in Moscow. Judging from the comments made,inc luding o f f i c i a l ones, the authors are pra ised fo r

Vern Cameron, of Els inore , Cal i fo rn i a , was conduc t -ing exper iments 30 years ago in order to t ry to under-s tand what t h i s energy i s t ha t does not conform to

known sc i en t i f i c laws. Vern found ou t t ha t meat couldbe preserved fo r an i nde f in i t e per iod of t ime, a f t e rbeing subjec ted to t h i s unknown energy genera ted by a

smal l pyramid. He also found t ha t a r azor blade couldbe used to shave with over a hundred t imes , before it

l o s t it's sharp edge, when placed under h is smallpyramid.

In col labora t ing with Vern, we no t only ver i f i ed h i sr e s u l t s , bu t also found t ha t an egg in a saucer wouldso l id i fy under the pyramid in a week, while one outs ide
