At Movie Mania, a ticket for a movie costs $8. Each day the movie is

shown 4 times: 11:00 AM, 1:15 PM, 3:30 PM and 7:00 PM. On

Wednesday, 75 people attended the 7:00 PM show. On Thursday, 93

people attended the 7:00 PM show. On Friday, 175 people attended the

7:00 PM show. On Saturday, between 50 and 90 people attended

each show.

• Write and solve a number sentence to find how much money was collected for the 7:00 PM show on Thursday.

Ten Minute Math Closest Estimate- 1

You will have 30 seconds to decide which estimate you think is the closest. Send your answer in on your CPS remote.

•How did you break the number apart?•How did you determine the magnitude of the answer?•If you change the numbers in the problem, how did you change then and why?

A RAY is part of a line that has ONE endpoint and goes on FOREVER in one direction (ex. Ray from the Sun).

When two rays share the same endpoint, they create an angle.

A SQUARE corner is a right angle.

Angles that are LESS than a right angle are ACUTE angles.

Angles that are GREATER than a right angle are OBTUSE angles.

How can we identify and describe right, acute and obtuse angles?

Review Geometric Terms

How can we identify and describe right, acute and obtuse angles?

Line Segment- a part of a line with two endpoints

Ray- a part of a line that has one endpoint and continues on forever in one direction

Straight angle- forms a straight line

Right angle- SQUARE corner

Obtuse angle- GREATER than a right angle

Right Triangles

Take a look at shape 1 and 3. How are these shapes the same? How are they different?

Both shapes are triangles, but they have different ANGLES.

Shape 1 has a RIGHT ANGLE. A triangle with a RIGHT ANGLE is called a RIGHT TRIANGLE.

Guided Practice

Pass out dotted paper….

You have 60 seconds to draw examples of a right angle, obtuse angle and acute angle.

Exchange drawings with your partner. You have 60 seconds to label your partner’s drawings.

Then check your work together.
