Private Duty Services

The Private Duty division of HBH serves its

clients by providing companionship and

homemaker services, assistance with

activities of daily living, and assistance with

personal care.

Please see the three pages that follow for

more information about the specific Private

Duty Services that we provide. Also in this

booklet you will find information on client to

caregiver matching, the employee screening

process, and more.

Private Duty vs. Home Health What is the difference between Private Duty and Home Health?

Answer: Home Health refers to in-home medical services, such as nursing,

therapy, etc. that may be paid for 100% by Medicare for eligible clients.

The Private Duty division focuses on companionship, assistance with activities

of daily living, and personal care (mostly non-medical services).

Medical services can also be provided through the Private Duty division, but are

not eligible for Medicare coverage. Please see page 5 for more information.

Also, please note that many clients choose to supplement their Home Health

services with Private Duty assistance, and vice versa.

Client & Caregiver Matching

At HBH we take the time to match our

clients with Home Service Workers that are

best suited to meet their needs.

Private Duty Coordinators will meet with

clients and their families to determine the

employee that is right for them.

There are certain questions we ask at the

first meeting to get a feel for who the client

is, and what they are looking for in a Home

Service Worker. For example, if you are

requesting a Home Service Worker to

prepare meals, then we will work to match

you with an employee that is a great cook.

Food preferences?

Are there pets in the home?

Is the client sensitive to certain odors?

(Do you prefer your Home Service

Worker not wear perfume, etc.)

Getting to Know You A few of the questions we ask when matching a new client to a Home Service Worker:

What is the client’s health history?

Likes and dislikes?

Hobbies?

Favorite activities?

Shopping Preferences?
