Question 7: In my preliminary task we didn't use soundtracks, such as music or voice overs. In our final production we did use these aspects as we realised from feedback and self-evaluation, of the preliminary task that it would have added suspense and created an atmosphere for our short film. We also saw when watching our preliminary task back that the quality of the sound from the camera didn't sound very clear, therefore when we used voices in our final product we ensured we recorded the voice over separately on a voice recorder. We used our preliminary task to practice the use of shots and camerawork techniques. This helped us make sure we didn't break the 180 degree rule in our final production. I learnt more about choosing the correct shots through the progress of our construction, for example we realised that it was important to choose a variety of shots, therefore when we were editing the film opening we spent lots of time as a group to choose the best shots and crop out anything that was unnecessary. For example with this shot we had too much of the room in it which we decided to crop out on iMovie during the editing process. This is a skill that we didn’t use when creating our preliminary task, as shown in this shot. We used shot reverse shots in both of our production’s, in our preliminary task we used it to show the discussion between both characters. We tried to include this skill in our final production, when the characters were on their laptops and when

Question 7:In my preliminary task we didn't use soundtracks, such as music or voice overs.

We tried to include this skill in our final production, when the characters were on their laptops and when they were walking towards each other. We also used match on action in both productions. I learn that this method of editing is very good to liven up the film and make it less boring compared to the camera staying in the same position throughout. Here is an example of match on action in our final production.

We also thought more about mise-en-scene in our final production, for example the props we used and where we filmed our scenes, as well as conducting research to find the conventions of our genre- romantic comedy. As we realised this is what we could have improved in our preliminary.
