WOW. The third issue already. Where did the time go? I remember when Print was just an idea, and here we are...

Times are crazy and people are starting to notice. PRINT is becoming a local staple in this whole ART & CULTURE movement of 2011 (hopefully...). We hope to stay this way.

This issue is all about ART, ART, ART. We have found some great artists, photog-raphers, and friends, to help out with this issues and we couldn’t be more happier. We think art and culture shouldn’t be left to the media, it should be taken into the hands of locals (US!) to distribute and fall in love with. So please, enjoy this ART filled issue and go out and make some ART, and love, and then eat afterwards, because that’s what we do.

how many times did we say art?...

Oh, and Happy Black History Month to all!

PRINT believes in Egalitarianism.

“Egalitarianism (derived from the French word égal, meaning “equal”),

is a trend of thought that favors equality of some sort. Its general premise is that people should be

treated as equals on certain dimen-sions such as race, religion, ethnicity, political affiliation, economic status, social status, and cultural heritage”

The coolest fashion blog-ger just agreed to be in our maga-zine. HOW COOL!Hello Rachel from A La ModestAll photo belong to Rachel Dahl. Do not copy, steal, take, without premission

Page 31: Print #3

Q: So, let’s talk a little about you. Where do you hail from? What do you like to do?

I live in Baltimore, Maryland, where tal-ented minds like Ani-mal Collective and John Waters hail from. Before I got into blog-ging, I used to write a lot about my philoso-phies in life (often deep, sometimes crazy). I have a love-hate rela-tionship with clothes where I rave about timeless and individ-ual creativity in cloth-ing styles but also rant about the mainstream and commercial trends in fashion. I also like music and movies a lot, which I enjoy with the love of my life.

When we first took a look at Rachel’s blog A La Mod-est, we fell in love. How could we not have known about this sooner?Rachel is cool, in-ventive, beautiful, and has one of the coolest blogs on the interweb. Also being a stu-dent, web design, anweb developer, and a graphic de-signer, she took the time to talk to PRINT about who she is, and what she likes. PRINT would like to introduce

RACHEL from

Page 32: Print #3

Q: When and WHY did you start your blog ‘A La Modest?”

The blog à la Modest started in April of 2010, but the idea of it began long before that. Before the blog came, I started a Facebook group for people to talk about the dangers of overtly sexual fashion trends. It raised some good discussion, but then I eventually built a blog to provide regular visual inspiration drawing from my own lifestyle. I think the blog helped a lot to encourage other women to be con-fident in the beauty they have without selling out their bodies.

Q: What do you do for a living?

I am a Web design and developer and a graphic designer. Recently though, I went back to school full-time, so I have both my job and my hobbies on the back burner. I still blog whenever I find free time. My résumé and port-folio for my Web work can be found at http://redeux.me, so if you ever need some help, wave me down!

Q: What are you listening to currently (music-wise)?

Oh boy, this is a big question. Right now, I am listening to the Mumford and Sons’ album Sigh No More. It’s a very deep and thought-provoking al-bum, which leaves you thinking about your purpose in life after listening to it. It’s folky, so it might be hard to get into for some people, but I highly rec-ommend it. I’m also listening to Miss-ing Persons’ album Spring Session M., The Brothers Martin’s only album, Arcade Fire’s The Suburbs, The Jim Caroll Band’s Catholic Boy, and Met-ric’s Fantasies and Live it Out, among other things...

Page 33: Print #3

Q: How are you able to put together such cool and unique outfits?

Before I decided to “cover up,” I enjoyed fashion but was a slave to it. I think cre-ating a boundary in my life since then from what I know to be sexually enticing and silly trends in fashion helped me to be more creative in my choices of cloth-ing. The limits that I set for myself almost forced me to open my mind to other things unpopular and be more independent. Cultures from decades past, music, and movies became sources of my inspiration.

Q: Favorite designer?

My favorite fashion designers for clothes include Rick Owens, Ann Demeule-meester, Karen Millen, Lee Alexander McQueen, and Mary Katrantzou. I like Jef-frey Campbell for shoes. Since I am a Web designer, I will thrown in Eric Jordan and Billy Bussey as my first two flash animator inspirations.

Q: What would you like to say to the people in the world?

Be brave and do not let your individuality be affected by everybody else’s think-ing, but when it comes to making yourself a better person for a better world, change yourself.

Check out Rachel at her blog!

The Dagda, Father of Brid, and most of the rest of the celtic pantheon, was a bit of a player. Not nearly on the mythic terms that Zeus has claimed, he is known by players for a specific infatuation he held. He in fact held the sun in place for nine months, the usual gestation period, to hide his affair. He held a club of immense power, said to be able to down nine enemies in a single swing, but with the handle he held the power to return the slain to life. He also can play the harp be-yond the point of human interpretation and appreciation. Mostly he is pictured brawny and wearing a tunic that fails to hide his rump. He is a manly man, and yet, he brings beauty and understanding to the world.

Vivian, or Viviane, was the Lady of the Lake. She was taught her magical prowess by Merlin himself, who found himself taken aback by her, though she was destined to betray him. His foresight was so clear, though, that there was no way for him to avoid it, so though he knew he would become trapped within the trunk of a mighty willow tree, he taught her still. When the day came, he did not fight his destiny, knowing he would escape with ease. Vivian, though, did not know this, and thought she had damned him forever, and later, a guilt grew over her that she could not suffer. To amend her deeds, she traveled to Ireland, to steal the mighty Caladbolg, a sword of mythic power. She engraved the sword with “Ex-calibur” her nearest translation of what they called the epic level weapon, and delivered it to Arthur, friend of Merlin,

and true heir of Uther Pendragon.

Freyja is many things, beautiful and graceful, but powerful and tempered. She represents the redheads of the world, with a feisty attitude, and a short fuse. She takes no insult lying down, but she also is deeply caring and forever loving. She is a well respected God-dess, and few tread upon her rage, as those few only will survive it.

Are you tired of all the danc-ing, hunting, and non fun shovel-ware titles for the Wii? Same here, but don’t let those titles keep your system shut off in place for the 360/PS3/PC titles you have, the Wii has plenty of good titles that won’t drive you to the point of selling the system! Here are ten of my favorite titles that I feel every hardcore gam-er should at least give a try...

Page 59: Print #3

1. NO MORE HEROES (Rated M) – Here is a

GREAT game from the makers of Killer 7 (PS2/Game Cube) and the up-coming Shadows of the Damned (360/PS3/PC/

Wii). You play the roll of Travis Touchdown, a man who must fight his was to

the top of an assassin’s list to get to the girl he has fallen in love with. This game is

bloody, sexy, funny, and an all around great/fun game.

2. TATSUNOKO VS. CAPCOM: ULTIMATE ALL-STARS (Rated T) – Take really good anime, mix it with really good

video games and you get this game. Fans of Street

Fighter (or just about any fighting games for that matter) need this

game in your collection. Battle two on two in this

2D fighter against the computer, local match,

or you can even take the fight online!

Page 60: Print #3

3. DONKEY KONG COUNTRY RETURNS (Rat-ed E) – Feeling a bit nostalgic? Don’t have a Super Nintendo

to play the DK games you love so much? Well, you are in

luck because DK is back and it’s just as you remembered

(if not better!!!!). Retroware Studios took very good care

of this title, and from the way it plays, they are huge fans of the series and didn’t want to change it. Classic tracks have been remixed a little, 2D style game play, and stunning visu-als make this game something

us classic gamers crave and love so much! Welcome back

Donkey Kong!

---->

5. MuRAMASA: THE DEMON BLADE (Rated T) – Fans of Shinobi and/or just about any beat em up games should really play this game. It really is a master piece. This 2D hack n' slash game is a sto-ry of a ninja who has become a fugitive and a princess that has become possessed. This has to be one of the best look-ing games for the Wii, as well as one of the best games I have ever played for the system.

Page 61: Print #3

4. GOLDENEYE (Rated T)– Once again another remake for the Wii (are you seeing a trend yet?), this remake of the master piece that was on the Nintendo 64 is more of a re-imagining of it, instead of a total face lift. It works really well, and it brought back the classic multi-player that fans have grown to love! Not only that, but it also has an online multi-player similar to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

Page 62: Print #3

6ZACK & WIKI: QuEST FOR BARBAROS' TREA-SuRE (Rated E) – This game was made as a family game but as it turns out hardcore gamers have fallen in love with it. This is an adventure/puzzle game where you take the roll of Zack who wants to become a pirate and goes to find treasure with his pet monkey Wiki. This game is for fans of classic point and click adventure games like Maniac Mansion (my favorite game), Kings Quest, and Monkey Island

MONSTER HuNTER 3 TRI (Rated T) – The Mon-ster Hunter series isn't as popular in America as it is in Japan, which is crazy because this series is awe-some! The basic roll of the game is to kill huge mon-sters, and level up in the process. You can even take the fight online (for free!) and join up with your friends to take these huge evil beast on! Give it a play if you enjoy MMO games!

Page 63: Print #3

1. House of the Dead 2 & 3 (Rated M) – What can I say about these two classic games rolled into one disc? Such a fun game(s), just aim the remote, pull the trigger and ask questions later. This game is full of adrenalin! Your heart will be pounding by the time you get half way through the first level! Plus you get two games in one, with tons of extra content, and ways to play!

Page 64: Print #3

CuRSED MOuNTAIN (Rated M) – My favorite type of games are survival horror games, epically ones that are uncommon, weird, or just unheard of. I guess I am just drawn to them. Anyways, in this game you are in search of your brother who has gone missing in the Himalayas. This game is very puzzle based and can be very creepy and make you jump out of your seat quite a bit! Fans of Fatal Frame and Silent Hill should

SIN & PuNISHMENT: STAR SuC-CESSOR (Rated T) – This game is a sequel to the 2000 underrated title Sin & Punishment for the Nintendo 64 (only released in America as a down-load title on the Wii virtual console). This on the rail shooter takes place in Inner and Outer space. Your roll in the story is to escape the World that is collapsing around you and to find peace. If you enjoy classic shoot em up games and are looking for something fresh and new, this is the game for you!

I hope you enjoy these titles as much as I do! I know I didn't go into

much detail on some of them but in the next couple of articles I will be

doing some game reviews and will try my best to give you a break down

of the titles I am reviewing! Hope to see you next issue and thanks for

reading!
